  1. We need this game...and a win...to get the community....REALLY BEHIND US. Pre-sales of 3k...pretty solid...hopefully we can get another 1500 walk-up...tall task...not impossible!!! 17270[/snapback] We actually don't really need another 1500 'true' walk-ups as this total doesn't include tickets set aside for students. I heard earlier this week that there were only about 800 tickets left for the game, which would make sense if you figure about 750 or so are reserved for students. And I think the students will be able to come through with that number on Saturday. So in terms of actual purchases, I think we would need 800 sold in the next week plus game time walk-ups..and maybe more than 750 students will even show up?? Can't wait!!
  2. You can follow the match right now on GameTracker ..it's currently tied 0-0 with 23+ min into the first half. #1 Boston beat #4 UVM 1-0.
  3. Had the chance to chat with Chancellor Ryan yesterday and brought up the stadium project. He definitely seems like a big supporter of this thing being done. Said that when he was Pres. here, he could not believe that what we have is our actual 'stadium.' Said that Ford deserves the stadium while he's still here, and that he's impressed with how much the Coach has been able to do, especially recruiting wise, with what little we have to offer in our current field. Mentioned an analagous situation while he was at Navy where the Midshipmen were losing recruits to the Air Force Academy because of their superior facilities. He recognized it as a serious problem and made sure that Annapolis had serious stadium upgrades. Remember, Ryan was the guy who authorized the funding for our new lacrosse/field hocky fields..and look at the results already! He said he wants to at least see some 'bowl stadium with even 15,000 or 10,000 seats.' He did mention that President Hall's much too early passing was tough for the stadium process.
  4. Great post '92. Their contribution figure is at best a quarter of all the money I see in a year as a college student, before any of my school/living costs. Well, if we make it to the NCAA's again, I guess I really only need one kidney right??
  5. I'd watch any UAlbany competition..tiddlywinks, you name it.
  6. Just because this is the closest thread related right now, I found this article on the CHN website. It lists the top 100 college basketball players in the country right now. Jamar is in the "next in line" group..effectively as the 107th player. No $iena players on the list...although Kojo Mensah is ranked 85, but we know from our friends at LHS that it's not a big loss at all.
  7. Thanks for the info. Judging from the wording of the penal code, and the first step to be safe in the email that us students received this afternoon, it might be safe to say that the female could have been passed out (due to voluntary drugs/alcohol) during the incident? Either or any way, this is horrible for anyone.
  8. Geez, just a completely stupid act..obviously. They should be embarassed for themselves and for the negative press it has created for their school and their team. In the most updated TU article online, it says they were charged with "first-degree rape of a victim who is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless." For those on this board who are more legally quailified than I am, what would be an example of that?..are we talking like a physical handicap or could it also include the size of the average 18 year-old female compared that that of a football player?
  9. I'll be meeting with him on something completely unrelated in the next couple weeks, so I'll try to mention it off-hand if I can appropriately.
  10. The meaning of negative environmental impact was not defined when the question was read. But how I heard it to mean was with $40 million, would it be more useful to use the money to reduce the University's negative environmental factors overall (ie, energy useage, university transportation, etc) as opposed to the environmental impacts of the stadium specifically.
  11. Whoaaaaa, it was a Q&A session during an open discussion. You can certainly disagree about the reasoning behind their question (which I mostly do and would assume most people on the board here do), but I'm not sure advocating a beating for them does anything positive.
  12. Are we talking all sports here?
  13. I wouldn't usually post something like this but I'm trying everything possible to put off doing this project for class, and I know there's a good number of posters here who are interested in the stadium issue. Provost (and current University officer in charge) Susan Herbst hosted a discussion on campus this evening regarding the Glaobal Warming/Climate Change issue as the official kick-off to UAlbany Green Week. During the Q&A session, someone asked (wrote) the question 'Why doesn't the University spend the $40 million it's planning for a new football stadium instead to lessen UAlbany's negative environmental footprint?'..which received a decent applause. She answered by saying that the University is currently in the process of conducting environmental impact studies so that if we're 'lucky enough to possibly build the stadium,' we could avoid negative impacts on the environment. Not exactly the wording I was hoping for, but considering the format, I'm not too surprised. Although I was surprised that the question was brought up.
  14. I was informed that it's a closed practice. I guess we'll have to wait a week til the Purple and Gold scrimmage.
  15. The Danes are doing it through the air! Back-up TE Chris Lore has a wide open 11yd TD catch early in the 3rd quarter. UA 21 - SBU 17
  16. The offense answers again with Omar's second TD of the half..14-14 with 1+min in the half. Bocanegra to Wall for a 39yd catch during the drive.
  17. UAlbany offense has scored a touchdown and the defense has given up no points. Might seem like we'd be winning but oh wait..SBU has returned two Bocanegra fumbles for touchdowns..14-7 SBU late in the second half.
  18. Went to the game and wanted to post my thoughts on it..finally have some time.. - the game wasn't really as close as the score..we really could've been beaten a lot worse - the D-Line was not like I've seen it in any game this season..they're (along with the linebackers) usually able to stop a run on first contact at or near the line..but the Cornell runners were often able to pick up an extra 4, 5, 6 yards after the first contact - Cornell's man-in-motion on nearly ever play was pretty deceiving (at least for me)..it was often difficult to see if the person in motion had the ball, the tailback, or the quarterback, as they would hike right at the time the man in motion was passing the center..I wonder if that played a part in the yardage they were able to pick-up on the ground - I'm positive Disch got jipped on tackles..when I looked after the game, I think the stats said 7 total (assisted and unassisted)..there were at least a couple times where the announcers had him with the tackle on back to back plays and even one (if I remember correctly) where it was three plays in a row..I was guessing he was in the 12-15 total when I looked - our running game was not there..virtually nothing up the middle at all - Bocanegra looked very good, very energized..minus his last play of the game on the 4th and 4..his pass to Gallucci was nowhere near..idk if Gabe was in the wrong spot, it hit someone's helmet or something near the line, or the throw was just that off - the last play of the 1st half with 5 secs left and us on our own 35 or so looked like a play action QB draw to the right with no blockers, because as soon as Danny rolled, he tucked the ball to run..idk if a play just didn't develop or what but I was confused that Fordie would but a kid with busted kidneys into a situation like that where he gets hit hard by 3 defenders and loses 5+ yards..they usually just kneal in a situation like that, so it surprised me a ton - we really missed Rashad and Chroback - their fake punt on the last drive was a very good one As a disclaimer, while I watch a good amount of both college and pro footbal, my intricate knowledge of the game isn't near baseball or basketball with me..so I apologize if my 'analysis' is way off, lol.
  19. Gotcha, thanks for the info!..thought that was kinda cool to see. And DP, if you want to move this to the current Lance James thread, go for it..I thought I posted it there and then couldn't find it at all..haha. I knew I posted soon after I woke up, but I didn't think I was that out of it!
  20. LEAP's location, Camden, NJ, is the same city that Connelly is from. Wonder if they knew each other at all. Still's gotta be kinda cool to have someone on the team that's familiar with where you're from.
  21. Wow, both teams had pretty dismal hitting percentages, especially us..hence the result. Second game was .086 us, .061 Bingo..and we still lost that game. Must've been pretty ugly. Hopefully the ladies can shake it off and step it up next game.
  22. The women's roster is now updated..Thrower is listed on it. Interesting that the TU article mentioned Coach Patterson said, as recently as Wednesday, that Thrower was playing. The article didn't mention a source (ex. Tanika herself, etc.) for the info saying she wasn't going to play for the season.
