  2. I think if it was MBB they’d have a fit. He’s a fairly logical choice for WBB in my mind…so perhaps it will happen. I doubt they’d get all weepy if he produces a winner.
  3. That was my plan when I bought the tickets. I realized bracketology had her in the Albany bracket. I bought tomorrow and Saturday to be sure. Trying to sell tomorrows tickets doubt my boys would want to make two trips from Dutchess County. Ticket prices for tomorrow have really bottomed out.
  4. Not yet. And really don’t anticipate anyone else leaving.
  5. Not yet, I am surprised Colleen Mullen has not drawn any attention or is she good at keeping things quiet. With the Women's Tournament in town, she could easily meet with another non-participating school's officials without attracting attention.
  6. Roger has been dropping Will's name frequently. Even as WBB HC, I feel that the $iena fans would have issue for his UAlbany past.
  7. Wyland has also been mentioning Will Brown as the possible new $iena women's coach
  8. So in other words no dam breaks on the women’s side
  9. Grand St Lot. I don't remember if it is free last time I was there. I used to park at that garage for photographic vehicle/motorcycle shots of the Empire State Plaza. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Grand+Street+Lot/@42.6478017,-73.7563592,305m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x89de0a34cc4ffb4b:0xe1a16312a0e728c4!2sAlbany,+NY!3b1!8m2!3d42.6525793!4d-73.7562317!16zL20vMGRxMTY!3m5!1s0x89de0a2254a2f0f5:0x47be3d634c2127d5!8m2!3d42.6471632!4d-73.7557875!16s%2Fg%2F11gd67sndh?entry=ttu
  10. Roger says it’s official so we will see…..GMAC at SC. Singleais says not so fast. We will wait.
  11. BY H. ROSE SCHNEIDER A light-hearted state university mascot competition timed to March Madness has taken a controversial turn after one university admitted students virtually stuffed ballots for their furry favorite. “One or more” students at Stony Brook University cast an excessive number of ballots for their mascot, Wolfie Seawolf, in the 2024 State Stony Brook pulled Wolfie from Mascot Madness. University of New York Mascot Madness competition, the university said in an Instagram story shared to both their own and SUNY’s accounts. “We brought these concerns to SUNY’s attention and offered to withdraw Wolfie from the competition,” the announcement said, going on to say Wolfie would not be competing. “We wish the remaining mascots good luck!” What is Mascot Madness? SUNY’s Mascot Madness has been around since 2013, pitting mascots against each other in a NCAA March Madness-style bracket with five rounds. Votes are cast online on the competition’s webpage during a limited period of time for each round. The third round of votes wrapped up Tuesday afternoon, and the semifinals were set to begin Wednesday at noon. How the online voting subterfuge was accomplished wasn’t clear. The online system only allows people to cast one vote every 12 hours. Who is Wolfie Seawolf? Wolfie — a gray wolf in a red Stony Brook University hat, jersey and shorts — had already won the 2022 and 2023 competitions and even placed fifth in a national competition at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, according to an interview shared on SUNY’s website. He said he was hoping for a “historic three-peat,” and had been rereading Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War.” In the third round, Wolfie was competing against SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry’s Oakie Acorn. Wolfie seemed to make a dig at Oakie when he said he’d “recently grown fond of devouring acorns.” “The students love their mascot,” SUNY ESF spokeswoman Karen Moore said. “They really do rally around Oakie and look forward to Mascot Madness every year.” Moore said the human-sized acorn originated from the campus’ Robin Hood Oak and uses they/them pronouns (oak trees are monecious, having both male and female flowers). A call and email to Stony Brook University hadn’t been immediately returned as of Wednesday afternoon. Who is in the Final Four? Oakie defeated Wolfie in round three with 56 percent of the vote. They’ll next go up against SUNY Brockport’s Ellsworth Eagle and, if they win, either Farmingdale State College’s Ram-Bo or SUNY Delhi’s Blaze the Bronco. Voting in the semifinals started noon Wednesday and ends 3 p.m. Friday. Voting in the finals runs from noon April 2 to 3 p.m. April 4. Oakie, who was created 14 years ago and is also a skateboarding fanatic, was the 2017 champion, beating out SUNY Geneseo’s Victor E. Knight. “Our students are just excited to see how far Oakie can go again,” Moore said. The mascots who may take the most umbrage to Wolfie’s alleged cheating are SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Walter the Wildcat and Alfred State College’s Big Blue, an ox, who lost to Wolfie in the second and first rounds, respectfully. What about Albany area mascots? Most local SUNY mascots were defeated in the first round of votes. Hudson Valley Community College’s Victor the Viking lost to Walter the Wildcat and University at Albany’s Damien the Great Dane lost to SUNY Cortland’s red dragon Blaze. Empire State University, an online school based in Saratoga Springs, saw its mascot Blue the bluebird sail through Round 1, only to fall in Round 2 to SUNY Brockport
  12. So Siena is looking for a MBB Coach, WBB Coach, an Associate Athletic Director for women sports, a MBB team and WBB team and their MBB Coach search has down the rabbit hole and has come up empty. Is this the reason why Dwyane Killings is still with us, From Roger Wyland's comments: Rodger’s Quick Take Siena doesn’t land Gerry McNamara unless it agrees to pay him more than any other Siena head coach has made and unless there is enough NIL money in the tank so McNamara can reshape a depleted roster. McNamara can recruit good players, but does Siena have enough money to pay them? I like the hire on paper but the longtime Syracuse assistant will have his work cut out for him going into next season. Rodger Wyland is the sports director for News Channel 13. Listen to
  13. NOT sure if this whole fiasco is DK’s doing OR not? Wish we were/are given more information. Or is this the nature of the beast called portal/nli??? For a whole team to leave really smacks of something out of the ordinary 🧐🥺. OR is it possible DK is just a VICTIM of a run-a-way train???🤔🤔
  14. ualbanywlax Keep it rolling. Katie Pascale earns Midseason All-America Honorable Mention recognition from Inside Lacrosse.
  15. The lot on Grant & Phillips off Madison Ave has always been free and empty. Been a while, so do not know if still the case. Can also get into this lot by empire plaza ramp. Go all the way around the plaza U-ramp; do not enter any of the Plaza ramps. There are 2 or 3 gates on each side of the U. Just after the last entrance is a ramp into the GrantPhillips Garage. Also an entrance on Phillips off Madison. Not sure the name of this garage. And if anyone knows the name and/or if still free. PLEASE feel free to correct this post
  16. That's actually genius too! Especially in bad weather.
  17. Are you getting to see the Iowa vs Colorado game? Watching Caitlin Clark is definitely a lot of fun. My wife and I are actually living in Iowa City currently so we’ve been able to go to a couple of games this year. I never thought I would get into Women’s basketball but here we are.
  18. Incorrect. Highly protected meaning, you would not even get a redacted document.
  19. We used to park next to the Albany Museum on Madison Ave and walk through the Concourse to the MVP arena.
  20. Hailee Ford and Marie Sepp recently and the three freshman who disappeared early in the season - Jessica Cooper, Ida Allberg, and Selina Monestime.
  21. I got stuck in the garage once. Never ever again. I will park in a lot outside to make sure I get out quickly.
  22. Here is a question...I know focus is on MBB...but how many, if any, of the WBB team has entered the portal? One program is near top of AE, while the other isn't.
  23. No problem! I tried to park close to S. Pearl so it was a quick exit to leave. Right on S. Pearl, right on Madison, then get on 787. Badaboom badabing!
  24. Channel 6 says get there 90 minutes before your game time https://cbs6albany.com/news/local/expect-packed-crowds-and-roadways-ahead-of-albany-march-madness#
