I see the game notes say Delaware came back, "stealing" the game away from Albany. No jury would convict them of that theft! The only thing positive I see is that UNH has the "easy" CAA schedule this year

and in their one big test they got beaten soundly by JMU. Albany gave Richmond a go with 3 OTs. But UNH has won all of the games it should have won and sadly I see them winning this one too. Certainly hope

to be surprised, but last week's Casey debacle gives me scant hope. If the offense doesn't turn the ball over and the defense plays up to their ability we should make a game of it. Maybe this is the week to blow the

dust off of the old Bob Ford playbook and do something unexpected, because even if it doesn't work it'll at least make them have to protect against the unknown. Our offense is so predictable right now that

it has to make the opposing DCs salivate.

Baby steps. I will take the baby steps of at least trying someone else out at the helm.

Can someone post the nuts and bolts of the article. Not a TU+ member (out-of-town and all).

Thanks.

Hmmm...I'm not a TU+ member and I could see it. Try again.

Since UA has pretty well played itself out of playoff contention (there's always hope but I think it's over) why not see what Brunson can do? I'm all for it. I'm also beginning to really miss the BoFo trick plays.

Those punt fakes in crazy field position that caught the opponents completely off-guard or similar. WR passes off reverses....anything.

A football coach would rather watch his quarterbacks compete for the starting job during training camp than in November.

. Declaring an open competition, Gattuso evaluated whether sophomore Neven Sussman or redshirt freshman Will Brunson should be the first one under center for Saturday's game at New Hampshire.

"That's what's tough because we've had a good year, but we could be in the middle of a great year," Gattuso said. "We need to be better at quarterback. It's as simple as that."

Gattuso texted Friday that Brunson will get his first career start against the Wildcats,..."I've got to tell you, I have no issues playing both," Gattuso said earlier in the week. "Everybody knows how I feel about Neven, but I feel equally good about Will Brunson."

Both Sussman and Brunson took repetitions with the first team in practice this week.

"I've said all along, we think Will's a good quarterback," Gattuso said. "When you evaluate the film with Neven (against Delaware), he made those two bad plays, but ultimately he played pretty well, crazy as it sounds. ... I have to look at the big picture and evaluate them based on progress. I think (Sussman) is making progress, but I also think Will Brunson is making a lot of progress."

Gattuso declined to make either quarterback available to the media this week. "I'd rather them not be," he said. "They're very close friends, and with the circumstances, I'm trying to just protect them a little bit."

While it will be a challenge for Brunson to get his first start at UNH (6-3, 5-1), Bernard pointed out Sussman made his first career start at sixth-ranked Richmond last year and had some success in a 38-31 loss.

"At some point, when you get your opportunity, you can't exactly map it out to where it's going to be at," Bernard said. "You can't worry about that stuff."

Bernard said the play-calling won't change much with Brunson, who is 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, because he has skills similar to the 6-3, 216-pound Sussman.

"We feel pretty good whichever guy's at the trigger, we can run our offense," Bernard said.

Brunson will face one of the better cornerback tandems in the CAA. New Hampshire senior Casey DeAndrade is an Associated Press All-American and freshman Prince Smith Jr. is on the watch list for the Jerry Rice Award, which goes to the top freshman in FCS.

UAlbany senior tight end Nic Ketter, speaking before the decision was made, said he thinks either Sussman or Brunson will perform well.

"Neven's been taking a lot of heat, but I don't think that's really warranted," Ketter said. "He's proven himself. We've been in very close games this year, and I don't think everyone should point to him and say it's his fault. I'm very confident in Will, too, and I think whoever they put out there, I have confidence they're going to do the job."
