2017 Football Recruits/Commits

Recommended Posts

Received a commitment from Tristan Sokach-Minnich (Long Snapper/TE) out of PA.

If Sokach-Minnich, Manzo-Lewis and Ibitokun-Hanks are involved in the same play Wyland might pass out trying to call it. Oh, and as a lifelong fan of the G-Men I've called that team from D.C. a lot more offensive things than Redskins.

Commit from Coemba Jones who looks like he picked UA over Temple. Not bad. 5 7 Safety out of Florida

The 247 sports site has him going to UA while his Twitterhas him going to Albany State in Georgia. Somebody is wrong.

For some sneaking suspicion I am getting the feeling that Shane Schuback could be on the fence. But who knows.

The Jersey kid is Zac Barnard, a 6'3 230 lb DE from the Peddie School. He had an offer from UCONN (presumably due to Aaron Smith heading to the Huskies). 2nd team All-Mid Atlantic Prep League.

He played OLB and RB in H.S., as well.

Hope Schuback is still committed - looked like a good player on film. That said, I never understood how his only two offers were Mississippi State and Albany.

Barnard has the build of an OLB - but I guess in our defense that might mean DE (similar build to Hoskins).

There's a radio interview (Dec 27) on a local station in Wilkes-Barre with Shane Schuback and his father (a coach)...YouTube. He apparently had a great deal of interest from other schools, got the offer from

MSU, then he/they were not happy with the level of communication coming from down south. He mentioned "family things" and how much better it would be to play at Albany, 2 hours away, rather than

in Mississippi. Said he was impressed by GG and Nate and seemed gung ho at the time. Of course a lot of ice has moved under the bridge since then. Since he's in with two other Lackawanna players

that gave verbals, maybe that helps. But situations change rapidly as we all know.

Also, Samari Springs, CB

Son of Shawn Springs, formerly of the Redskins (Can I say that name or is it a social faux pas?)

He's out. Flipped to Richmond.
