The full court press was broken easily against PSU.  So, I'm not sure why yesterday we looked like we did

10 years ago.  Our dribbling was too much, our passes too slow, and our direction was easily being detected.

Penn St. didn't play 1-3-1...

I can't remember the last time that LCC played on the UA campus. It certainly hasn't been at SEFCU, but the last game was in University Gym back in the Division III days. I'm guessing LCC last played at UA almost 40 years ago in the mid-to-late 70's. So I think that every half century or so they can play where we feel more comfortable.

Patsos can flap his gums all he wants...alternate or scrap the series. Enough already with always being at their gym. No other D1 team would put up with this...neither should we. Give them an ultimatum and they can bounce and get someone else to come in and fill their arena to the tune of 11k. We'll see how quickly they run back...beat it! The days of a small liberal arts school struggling financially dictating terms to a flagship campus of the largest state university system in the country are over! If they had any alternative, they wouldn't have agreed to come this year, call their bluff.

10 years ago.  Our dribbling was too much, our passes too slow, and our direction was easily being detected.

It absolutely did in the second half. The first half it was more of a soft press to slow us down moving up the court but they started pressing harder in the second half and caused some turnovers and one of the reasons they came back from down 19 pts. We had 15 turnovers that game (11 by Cremo/Nichols) that led to 18 pts for PSU.  I didn't see the Cincy game but was told their pressure hurt us a lot in the second half blowout.  Last night was a combo of their press and the 1-3-1 that caused our guys to make too many bad passes.  It's something that needs to be worked on and fixed or will hurt us throughout the season.

Turnover stats:

vs. PSU - 15 (12 for PSU)

vs. Cincy - 22 (10 for Cincy)

vs. Oneonta - 12 (13 for Oneonta)

vs. GSU - 13 (9 for GSU)

vs. Brown - 18 (8 for Brown)

Almost lost the TO battle in every game.  Clean it up!

Glad you pointed that out DRG. We've struggled..at least to some extent..with press/pressure we've faced in every game this year. We handled it just enough to finish off Penn State and Brown when it tightened up late. We'll continue to see pressure unless/until we start beating it consistently.

I think a lot of it has to do with a relatively inexperienced back court and a line-up that has 3 new starters. Cremo saw plenty of time last year..but had 2-3 more experienced guards on the floor with him each time last year. Nichols saw very limited minutes last year. And Grayson is making his first ever DI appearances. Not saying the TOs are easy to write-off because of it..but I hope that means they'll improve into the season as they gain experience and get more comfortable playing with each other.

I think that's also affecting the D to some extent. A lot of new faces in the backcourt playing together for the first time. No one has stepped up (yet?) as a defensive stopper like a Ray Sanders, Jerel Hastings or Brian Lillis. We also lack size inside like we haven't seen in some time. Last time we didn't have someone at least 6'10" on the roster was 2003-04. Opposing guards could penetrate..but then they'd also have to get around a Zoellner, Gifford, Metcalf, Puk or Richards. Right now the last line of defense around the hoop is Rowley or Stire..solid defenders..but 3-4 inches shorter than what we have been able to use in the past.

Agree with everything you posted here and as I said in a post in another thread, we've seen this in previous seasons with a new cast of characters needing time to gel.  To me, losing the TO battle and still being 3-2 shows a lot about how good this team can be if they take care of the ball. Clean it up! :)

Although PSU might not have used the 1 3 1... pressure is pressure and there

are specific ways of breaking down each one down. Maybe it's the young back court, and will just take a bit of time.

Gotta make em pay for putting the pressure on with a score, preferably immediate.

Ultimately, they feel less optimistic about putting it on it the first place.

Seems to me though, that I saw at least a bit of well executed, sharp, quick work

of PSU's pressure getting the ball up court.

Stats certainly don't lie.  So, we need to work on the turnovers.

Looks like just under 40 years, 12/29/76, a 91-86 Indians win in the Capital District Tournament, 36 days before the 62-49 Albany win at the ARC that closed the series.

I really hope our Penn State team shows up and we smack them around. Just to shut that loser up once and for all. Actually, if he loses to Albany IN Albany...he'll probably be on the edge of getting canned as it is.

If Patsos loses to UA and goes 1-3 against us, the fan base will run him out of town. His Sienna career depends on it...

Make no mistake, he has the senior laden team, returning most of his starters, team picked and expected to be significantly better then us and favored on the road.

Next year, the roles will be reversed as they will graduate 4 all-league type kids, Wright, JO, Long and Bisping. This is a really talented group, especially Wright...next year is going to be rough for them.

Agreed, they should be good when they get everyone back. It's funny, their front court should be what sets them apart and both Bisping and JO were recruited by Mitch Buonaguro.

I know their roster pretty well they have a few good guards but next year may get rough.

Wright and Clareth are both good. 4 starters back from a good team. It won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.

Hahaha typical delushional post- it was Patsos  who wanted the game at Sefcu- Darg didn’t want it, but in the end relented.  Darg is taking a lot of heat  for this game- win lose or draw tonight you will not see Siena back at sefcu. If that’s the end of the series so be it

IS the series not coming back to sefcu just code for someone else will win the naming rights when it comes up for bid?

Let's hope the series ends if it doesn't stay home and home.
