Albany (1-1) vs. D3 Oneonta 8pm

Recommended Posts

Game is at 8pm, due to the double header.

Here is an interesting story. GDG and I were antiquing on our way up from Penn State on Saturday. We stopped in a place we had been before near Oneonta. The couple who owned the place asked us where we were traveling from. We explained.. and wouldn't you know the man says.. ah basketball fans.. I was the Oneonta Basketball Coach for years and played against Doc many a times. "I gave Doc his worst lost ever"....he said. It was some Championship game to get to the NCAAs or a regional or something. He said Doc was his mentor and went on telling us stories. It was pretty cool to hear the stories and he was excited to tell us. Of course we were all ears. He said he came up last year for the game and hoped to see Doc but he wasn't there. He is also coming up tomorrow, again hoping to see Doc.

That's awesome.

That being said, I expect a 50pt win if we play D like we did for 3 of the 4 halves so far this year. I love games where I just have fun with my trash talk at the refs and not be too serious about em lol.

It was the 1977 D-3 East Regional Final. We lost by a point in a very low scoring game. Oneonta's point guard was a very short guy, Kevin Croutier, whose younger brother, Dan Croutier wound up playing for Doc a few years later.

Though painful; I remember it well. I think the final was something like 46-45. Both Croutier's were hell good players; though short they were as tough as they come.

I too remember that game very well. Croutier killed us in that game. The gym was packed, and no matter how much UA fans cheered it would not alter the outcome. I felt sorry for Doc Sauers because I wanted him sometime in his long, illustrious career to advance to the Final Four of Division III. It never happened. I think Oneonta's coach was Ron Flewelling. It's funny that he is now so much into antiques.

Bag policy in place for SEFCU per facebook. Posted 3 hrs ago. Will they ever get communication to fans right? We didn't get a season ticket email reminder about this new policy for basketball did anyone else?

Just came here to say the same thing.

We are such a joke sometimes.

I got an email 2 min ago about the bag policy. This should have went out a month ago and again a week ago and again today.

This may have been covered in a thread I missed, but why are we playing this game?

From what I understood at the meet and greet, it's basically required and Brown is forced.

By who? The AD?

The AE. Brown said most coaches seem to be doing 2-3 and he's forced to at least do one. Or something. Someone correct me if I understood incorrectly.
