Recruiting - 2017

Reading about the Monteverde game at noon today in the USA Today HS sports site. It's interesting that the guy (Cam Healey) we are so high on getting to UA is not even mentioned in the team summary. I guess when you are the number 3 ranked HS team in the country your talent goes pretty deep lol.

Watching! Kid has a sweet 3 stroke and really hustles. UA mention and commentator said WB should give his staff a raise for landing Healey.

Kind of surreal to watch a UA signee playing on ESPN in April and having the announcers talking about your program. Thought Healy played pretty well against a high level of talent. The difference in the frontcourt was pretty apparent Montverde has some good CAA/A10 guys and LaLumiere had a front court that looked like it could play in any of the power conferences.

  • 2 weeks later...

If the team adds another high level pg that would step right into a starting roll, does that move Cremo to the 3?

I'd love to see the team have a 10 man rotation and play a faster pace, but if I was a guard, I'd be afraid to sign for PT reasons.

Nichols, Cremo, and Campbell will all be juniors. Anderson will be a senior. Cochran as a sophomore, and Healy as a freshman should all get significant minutes as it is.

The chance to add a proven guard to the mix of what we have coming back would be amazing. We didn't have that much depth at the back court last year so Maitland could really make for something special.

The other nice part about Maitland, he's already got a win again Siena (last year's CBI)

I wasn't complaining. I never got the complaints from people on other sites about "recruiting over" existing players. I'm just curious how it will shake out.

Will coach Brown allow himself to go 10 or 11 deep in the rotation?

1. Maitland (jr)(offer), Healey(fr), Anderson(sr), [Nichols]

2. Nichols (jr), Cochran(so), [Cremo]

3. Cremo(jr), Campbell(jr), [Cochran]

4. Charles(sr), Lands(sr), Lulka(fr), Garcia(sr) [stire]

5. Stire(sr), Hank(fr)

The above assumes Andrews and Grayson are leaving but that's still all guesstimates and rumors. There are also rumors about 2 of the bigs leaving.

I keep going back and forth on what the team needs to beat Vermont next season, and I don't think it's much. If the rumors are true, then the team needs another big.

Maitland got a year of eligibility back after the fiasco at Morehead St. He will be a sophomore next season.
