Somerset, N.J. - University at Albany's Dillon Romain has been chosen Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week in football, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Nov. 8. The freshman tailback earned the weekly award for the second time this season.

Romain recorded career-highs in rushing yards (101) and all-purpose yards (152) in last Saturday's 35-23 conference win over Sacred Heart. The Great Danes snapped a three-game skid with their third road win of the season. He scored on a pair of touchdown runs, including a 7-yarder that tied the contest at seven apiece just before halftime. Romain added a 20-yard dash over the right side to provide his team with a 21-7 advantage with 6:44 left in the third quarter. A native of Vernon, N.J., Romain had a 28-yard kickoff return to midfield that led to an early fourth-quarter touchdown and caught two passes for 23 yards.

Romain, who attended Blair Academy and was the 2008 New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year at Don Bosco Prep, scored on two touchdown runs for the second time this year. He is just the second UAlbany freshman to accomplish that feat in the program's Division I FCS era and the first since the 2000 campaign.

2nd time this year for Romain and the 3rd time we've had a RoW award from Albany.

Took a minute to look at Dillion's stats and notice a few things . 100% of our rushing yardage this year is from under classman , 90 % of recieving yards are from under classman and 73% of our total offense is from under classman . I am some what concearned if this will effect our recruiting this year for the players that think they can play right away! Encouraged that we should have some good years ahead of us!
