Travis Charles

Recommended Posts

Charles back on court - along with the story of Blake Metcalfe, Travis Charles is doing non-contact drills and lifting weights.

That's good to hear. It's sounded like CB has liked what he's seen from Charles so far, calling him one of the better offensive post players.

Does anyone know what the plan is come next semester as far as possibly adding someone come January? With only 12 scholarship players with one red-shirting that is very dangerous if one or two get injured for an extended period of time.

This probably should have gone in the Chass Brown thread.

I haven't heard anything, but this team seems so deep that it would take a lot of injuries before I think it affected anything. Dallas started a bunch of games for the team last year, and is getting very little playing time as it is. The team is really 10 deep at the moment, and although he hasn't played much, David Nichols impresses me during warm ups with some acrobatic dunks. Something tells me that he will be good in a year or two.

We also got a commitment this fall from BJ Jenkins, a guard out of Neosho Community College.

He seems to have been playing with a pretty high level of competition - Neosho's leading scorers were Joseph Acuil, Jenkins and Brett Frantz. Frantz is now starting at Youngstown State and Acuil signed with Baylor. If Jenkins is somewhere near that level we have a nice player coming in. There should be some good competition for minutes at the guard spot.

Anyone have any updates on Travis Charles? I know he was on the bench in street clothes for the UMBC game. No one has mentioned if he made the trip to Vermont?

I really hope he is feeling better. The bigs seem to be really coming into their own without him, but he showed he could be a great in the post in his limited action. If he could get back into playing shape he could be a monster come the end of the regular season and in the playoffs.

That said, if he could qualify for a medical red shirt, it might be nice having him for 2 more years if the eligibility is there.
