Travis Charles

Anyone have any updates on Travis Charles? I know he was on the bench in street clothes for the UMBC game. No one has mentioned if he made the trip to Vermont?

 

I really hope he is feeling better. The bigs seem to be really coming into their own without him, but he showed he could be a great in the post in his limited action. If he could get back into playing shape he could be a monster come the end of the regular season and in the playoffs.

 

That said, if he could qualify for a medical red shirt, it might be nice having him for 2 more years if the eligibility is there.

 

He was not at Vermont.

Looked like it on the feed and he was very active cheering for the team with some big reactions after big plays/shots.

Charles was the greeter on the court when our starting 5 were announced and was even dancing in the circle before tip off as well so "maybe" he is getting closer???

I saw Reece, didn't see Travis last night. Thought click was seeing someone else I missed. I hope Travis is doing well. I'm sure we will have more info when the students return for the semester.

I stand corrected...sorry for the confusion. Looked to me like the guy in the jumpsuit was to big to be Reece

Same here. Thought that was Travis.

Also thought it was Travis. Reece dresses for most games, IIRC. I'm pretty sure it was Charles. Also, Reece has a 'fro...Charles does not. The player on the bench did not have a 'fro from where I was sitting.

Reece does not dress for games. And he no longer has a fro.

 

TWC highlights of the game show him clearly, for those who weren't at the game to see him or don't really know what he looks like.

UAlbany Junior Travis Charles will likely miss the remainder of the season. Will see another cardiologist in March.

That's too bad. Both for the team (UA needs him) and for him as well. I hope he is ok and recovers from everything. Basketball is secondary to health.

Wilkin is reporting that Charles is ineligible for a medical redshirt because he played in 9 games..describing that as "too many."

 

I thought the rule is no more than 30% of a team's games. There's 31 regular season games. 9 of 31 is 29%. What am I missing?

Because of the exempt pre-season tournement with UK, BU, and USF maybe? It only counts as one game right? So it's really 9/29 which puts it over 30%? If you don't sched the Oneonta game it would have been 8/28 falling below the 30%? Either way hope the kid is alright and will be back next year.

I don't understand the redshirt thing but I guess that isn't the point right now. Hopefully he's healthy and they figure out what's going on. He is way too young for this kind of thing to be happening.
