Is back as video coordinator. Great to see another former player on the staff.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Former standout Great Dane and professional player DJ Evans has returned to UAlbany to serve as the video coordinator for the men’s basketball team beginning in the 2016-17 season.

“I am excited to add former Great Dane point guard DJ Evans to our staff,” said UAlbany head coach Will Brown. “DJ was a terrific player for us and I am confident that he will do a tremendous job as our Video Coordinator. The dynamic of our staff is very unique. I have four former players and five UAlbany graduates on staff. This group really believes in the university and our basketball program. I am confident that the staff will impact our student-athletes on the court, in the classroom, and be active members of the UAlbany community.”

Evans played two years for the Great Danes after earning JUCO All-America honors at East Mississippi Junior College. He helped UAlbany win a pair of America East titles, being named to the conference’s all-tournament team in the 2013-14 season and scoring 22 points in the program’s first NCAA Division I Tournament victory over Mount St. Mary’s in 2014.

After his collegiate career, Evans played professionally for Fribourg Olympic in Switzerland in 2015.

Evans graduated from UAlbany in 2014, majoring in sociology.
