MBB Game #1: 11/10/17, 7:00pm - vs. Iona (0-0 MAAC) @ SEFCU

I thought at times Travis Charles looked too eager tonight. Funny thing to say about a fifth-year senior but that's the way it seemed. Last year he did a nice job letting the game come to him and I'm sure he'll settle into the starting role.

Front court starters tonight - 27 points and 20 rebounds between Stire and Charles. I'll take that any day. Stire was a man in the paint. I did not think we'd dominate on the boards the way we did.

Clark is going to be a nice player but he looked a little lost out there. Not many great stats for Costa Anderson but I thought he did a nice job of settling us down and handling the ball when Iona tried to pressure.

Conway gave a nice little offensive punch off the bench along with Foster. There are some fun front court combination possibilities with guys who bring different things to the table.

Of course, Nichols and Cremo who have been so steady I almost take them for granted. I thought they might post Cremo a little more because Iona's guards were on the small side but there didn't seem like much of an opportunity for that.

Nice way to kick off the season.

I feel like Foster should start. Charles was so good as sixth man and a boost off the bench that Id keep him there.

Also felt like they went away from their strength at times and forced up shots inside. Instead of dribble penetration.

The D was great.

Charles had a rough going of it in the 1st half, he must have had like 3-4 turn overs and a few bricks...but came on when it mattered and had at least one big bucket and rebound.

This is the first game folks, and it was at home. Jitters were part of it I'm sure, but we fought through it mentally. Great showing and much to like.

Can't let Charles dribble the ball unless it's backing in from 8 feet out.

He hit a huge shot in the second half... Pressure is on... Iona challenging, he pulls up on that 18'... Swish! It was a huge shot.

I felt the offense didn't flow that well... Especially in the second half. Only 6assists for the entire team. Nichols with zero... That's rough.

Thought the athletic Iona perimeter did a good job preventing us from getting into our offense. Other than that we missed a couple of open shots that would've been assists.

First game and Iona playing a matchup zone for 40 minutes trying to stop Nichols and Cremo and the still combined for 28.

Hard to post up Cremo against their guards when they are in a zone for 40 min

Credit to Cremo and Nichols for being patient and not forcing much.

Stire and Charles will get a lot of opportunities due to Nichols and Cremo.

Thanks for posting the intro. looks nice. I agree that the video could have been shorter but when you win five championships you need to make time for all of them. In all seriousness though the video could do without the dribbling by the players.

I've got to be honest...what's all the bitching about the intro. 20, 10, 5, heck 2 years ago we would have killed to have professional stuff like this. I think it's great...and I think it makes the program big-time. 3 minutes...who cares...its' advertising...and it's cool.

Oh...and a heck of a win...and Coach really was pretty calm, as he said he would be. Good job by the Purple Family tonight...all around.
