Let's Fix SEFCU!

How about just filling in the corner with seats and making everything except the endzone seats chairbacks?

with baseline seats at a different slope from the sidelines, and needing openings at floor level to allow teams and fans to get to their seats, that’d be a lot of work for not very many, very bad seats. Filling in the corners will wait until the arena footprint is expanded, because I don’t think you can do it even if you turn the court sideways.

I'd say build an entire new facility/building.

We need the extra, indoor space. And as is, sefcu arena makes a perfect field house.

Build a new arena, with a permanent bowl layout with the concessions and all other goodies perfectly laid out.

Money-wise, what's the difference between a MAJOR sefcu renovation vs a new building?

They can build tunnels for access to locker rooms and floor level exits. The slope difference is a big problem.

Where would you put it?

I honestly like the way the baseline bleachers are set up. I would not want to change that at all. if you look at pictures those things are so incredibly steep that you are literally on top of the court. If you build an arena today I don't know if you'd be able to make them that steep.

If the students actually ever gave a crap about going to games, SEFCU the way it is would be a hard place to play for an opposing team.

I thought we had really nice attendance last game. Let's see how they do tomorrow.

Why would we not put it between the stadium and the baseball field.

There is a lot of space there, and there would still be space for practice field.

Why is there never talk of cutting the baseball program?? Wouldn't that have balance out the title 9 issues with the tennis program getting cut? I'm a diehard baseball fan, but college baseball doesn't do much for the school.

The small-construction solution might be to move the SEFCU south wall out to the sidewalk, giving about 40 or so more feet, so then you could fill the corners and rebuild the entrance. But again a lot of work for a fairly small benefit

That was my solution in several of these threads. Might have been this one or the asses in the seats one, who knows.

They could expand both south and west, move university drive a little, and have a new facade there to match the football stadium. Have more concessions and ticket booths on that side, and an escalator up to the top. Reorient the court and make it a full bowl. Make it 100% chairbacks with a total capacity of 6500ish.

Could be a money maker with other events (I can't tell you how many concerts I went to at the RaCC back in the mid 90s. From DMB to Green Day to Primus.

This area is lacking a nice mid sized arena. Bigger than the palace or SEFCU but smaller than the TUC. It could fill a bunch of niches.
