Recruiting - 2018

Sort of has to do with this because of our recruiting of Aussie and out of state players.

If you scan down to the NJ-Rutgers heading you will see UA mentioned. Phil has frequently pointed out the number of out of state and out of country players on state university (tax payer funded) teams. I emailed

to disagree with his conclusion and he answered, pointing out that he has issues with tax payer funded universities making winning basketball games a priority. He also pointed out that his twin sister is a UA grad so he wasn't picking on us. The other 3 SUNY D-1 MBB teams have 8 NY players...and we have 3 NY Players.

Plus athletic scholarships are not state-funded? Or does he mean that donations to athletics would otherwise go to the U's general budget, ignoring that without sports most of those donations wouldn't be made?

Nearly 80% of the athletics spending is from "external sources", the Student Athletic Fee covers more that 1/4 of the scholarship cost even using an out-of-state tuition number for every athlete.

The team definitely needs to focus on signing a couple of bigs at this point, and that should be their focus IMHO.

After this season, the team will be left with Conway, Hank, and Lulka. All 3 could be great players, but unless the team wants to go small, there wont be any depth

I expect 3 more signings...a wing and two bigs (possibly JUCO's) to compliment the young bigs.

We wouldn't have had room though. He committed to Monmouth for this coming year.

He reclassed to 2017, was a 2018 kid.

He had an interesting recruitment experience. He's a 2017 grad who had committed to a D2 school but a couple of D1 schools came knocking this spring and he was going to prep and then go D1 in 2018. I guess the Monmouth scholarship opened and he decided against prep school.
