It's not just the AD as I've said many times that we've beat this horse. There is virtually NO flyers, posters, etc. in the academic parts of the school advertising. Is that the AD's fault? Or is the various schools not allowing certain things pinned to their department boards, etc.? It's a school wide issue IMO and I think it involves a culture change, not just more marketing from the AD.

 

In the last 2 years we've seen them do that new student orientation at the stadium...that's a start.

to me the answer is the AD...you gotta work on marketing to get people in the seats.

 

I agree with the UA students being ehhh with sports. It was a problem when I was a student. That's why when we made the AE title game, I was lucky to be in the arena calling the game for WCDB. But it kinda annoyed me that these "student fans" showed up for that game, and were non existent the rest of the year except for BPG. The AD gives out these "Daneger Zone" shirts and then that's it. WORK TO GET THESE STUDENTS EVERY DAMN GAME. It sounds crazy, but you gotta offer the stuff if need be.

I was a student too at the time of their first title. I have to disagree with you though. All the ones who didn't show up to any games had every right to be there, especially camping out to get a ticket. I'll take a 1000 fair weather fan students than the 200 constant supporters. I can care less if they can't name a single player on the roster as long as the sefcu end zones are packed.
