Recruiting - 2016

Since we're losing our top three scorers..I looked at this year's recruits' scoring in 15-16:

 

Hicks - 17.8ppg

Lands - 16.3ppg

Cochran (NJCAA DII) - 16.0ppg

Anderson - 14.9ppg

Campbell - 14.5ppg

Martin-Garcia - 11.3ppg

Interesting in that who knows how successful we will be, but I'd like to think we're helped by external factors - Pikiell etc.

Anyone with time, care to consolidate/summarize the newbies?? Background, years of eligibility, ratings etc. If no one interested in the job, UAlbanysports.com usually does this @ some point.

Looks like Big Rich decided to use his last year of eligibility. Signed with Cal State Fullerton for 16-17.

Wasn't the rumor that he was moving to FL because of his gf?

 

Not sure how much he would have contributed but still, losing a somewhat serviceable big after a couple of years isn't refreshing..

Roster was updated for the upcoming season. Hicks isn't on the roster but Marqueese Grayson is.

For starters, he's the cousin of the Chicago Bulls Jimmy Butler. Also, he's hopefully the next all-conference UA guard to come from the JUCO ranks.

Grayson put up 13.6ppg, 5.7rpg and 4.2apg this season. Shot 50% from the floor, 44% from three and 80% from the FT line.

 

His team finished as a NJCAA National Semi-Finalist and he was teammates with the JUCO National Player of the Year.

I have submitted a few corrections to Verbal Commits in the past and was hoping they might have more information about Hicks. I sent in the link to the roster for them to update the UA page and received the following in return.

 

"Per a close source, Hicks will not be playing for Albany next year. Thanks for the heads up!"

I wanted to respond, "Um, already figured that out from the updated roster page but thanks for the inside info." haha. Instead I just said thanks.

Got another email from Verbal Commits saying Hicks is staying Juco for another year. I guess he is hoping to go higher after next season. That was not said in the email, that is just my guess.
