I thought I saw an article that the university was moving toward a standard schedule meaning away from the Fall Jewish holidays? Did that get repealed?

 

Having classed suspended for two weekends is killing attendance. If they are keeping those holidays then these should either be bye weeks or away games.

Well, this is just suspending classes, I'm guessing the dorms stay open and as many as usual non-Jewish students will still be around. I know I tried to never schedule a class for Friday afternoon.

Yeah, we are going to have to rely on Obsourne/Martin to do some serious work. This will force the defense to move up, which hopefully will help Fiacchi.

Give me some more Jamal Merritt over McClary...watching his 80 yard interception return for a TD (called back) was the most exciting part of the game (IMO.)

JMU has two wins but I don't know that their wins are any better than ours. They've beaten St. Francis (PA) and Lehigh. Those teams combined are 2-7. St. Francis has the two wins, both against Division II teams.

 

St. Francis rushing for almost 300 yards against JMU is encouraging.

If at the beginning of the season you told me that JMU would only be a three and a half point favorite when playing UA, I would have said it was crazy talk. Now I am going to be a little disappointed if UA loses... It has been a great start to the Gattuso era.

Something to keep in mind, last year Coach Ford said that he believes JMU plays to their level of competition.

 

 

Coach, did JMU play any differently than they have in the first game? You mentioned this week earlier that they have played to their level of competition.

 

To which Coach Ford answered:

 

Yeah, I know that sounds like a slap but I think a lot of teams are guilty of that and we don't like it as Head Coaches. I watched them play St. Francis, which was in our conference [NEC], and St. Francis came within 4 points. I watched them play Akron which they gave them a hell of a ball game, so obviously they're capable of playing on that level [FBS], but obviously they're capable of playing down a level as well. I think they probably did a little bit of that in the 3rd quarter against us, but nonetheless our hat is off to them, they did an excellent job.

JMU also has a new HC this year. You never know what will happen in a system change. Kids either respond or they don't.
