  1. PS.... THANKS MsGDG, for posting the photos!! The NINE TIME...yea, NINE TIME...AMERICA EAST CHAMPIONSHIP UALBANY MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAM AND THE FIVE TIME....yea, FIVE TIME...AMERICA EAST CHAMPIONSHIP UALBANY WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAM are standing behind your posts and enjoying every shot that you put up!!!!!! Particularly, the Men's team with the eight (8) "student-athletes" that UAlbany sent to the East NCAA Div.1 Championships; the six (6) members designated as "All Academic" team selections; Delallo & Fanning named Capital One Academic All-District representatives; Bowen & Scannapieco that contended at the NCAA Div. 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon; the four (4) Great Danes that competed at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships and the honors and accolades that were bestowed and EARNED by these atheletes and enjoyed by the ENTIRE UALBANY COMMUNITY...... SEZ "THANKS" FOR THE PHOTOS and if you think these shots are great.........WAIT UNTIL YOU CAPTURE THE HUNDREDS OF "STUDENT-ATHLETES" THAT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH EVEN GREATER OPPORTUNITIES FOR ATHLETIC / ARTISTIC "EXPOSURE" (funny, eh...I know many on here couldn't fathom the humor...heh, heh).
  2. Nice to see the facility continuing it's upgrade for UALBANY'S NUMBER 1 COACH THAT HAS BROUGHT UALBANY THE MOST NCAA DIV.1 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS IN IT'S HISTORY... WHILE HAVING ABSOLUTELY NONE, NIL, NADA, ZIPPO, ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH, APPROVED FACILITIES TO HOLD EITHER A PRACTICE....OR MOST OF ALL..... A HOME...YEA, A HOME WHERE IT COULD HAVE A MEET APPROVED BY THE NCAA!!!!!!!! YET THIS COACH still, over the past 12 years that UAlbany bas been a NCAA Div. 1 entity, has a MULTITUDE of NCAA DIV.1 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS.....MORE THAN ANY OTHER UALBANY COACH!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE UALBANY MEN'S AND WOMEN'S INDOOR AND OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS....AND TO THE ULABANY xCOUNTRY MENS AND WOMENS TEAMS for ASSISTING TO bringing this UNIVERSITY (yeaaaaa, that means diversity) THE MOST CHAMPIONSHIPS IN IT'S HISTORY..... A FACT THAT IS INDISPUTABLE!!!!!!!! THANKS .....COACH VIVES ....and his vast array of assistant coaches that HAVE PRODUCED THE MOST NCAA DIV. 1 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS THAT THE UALBANY COMMUNITY HAS EVER SEEN, SETTING THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE OUTDOOR AND INDOOR TRACK PROGRAMS!!!! THEN, ADD the accomplishments and achievements that the UALBANY MEN'S AND WOMEN'S X COUNTRY TEAMS HAVE brought to the University....simply "frosting on the cake", if you can fathom what I'm saying!! Perfect example, take a look at the two (2) Outdoor Track and Field "student-athletes" ( ALEXANDER BOWEN and ALFONSO SCANNAPIECO....yeaaaa, the next time you see them....say "congrats") that were CHAMPIONS in the America East Conference finals, where this propelled them to compete against the best of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states in the IC4A CHAMPIONSHIPS...where they CAME OUT CHAMPIONS AGAIN!! THEN THEY HAD TO COMPETE against the BEST THAT THE EAST HALF OF THE UNITED STATES HAD TO OFFER IN THE NCAA DIV. 1 EASTERN TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS....AND STILL THEY CAME OUT DESIGNATED CHAMPIONS!!!! THIS got them to the NATIONAL NCAA DIV. 1 OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD IN EUGENE, OREGON....YEAAAA BABY, "RUNNING WITH THE WOLVES" IN THIS MEET!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE TWO (2) GENTLEMEN...THESE TWO "STUDENT-ATHLETES" FOR REPRESENTING UALBANY AT THE HIGHEST OF ALL COMPETITIONS!!!!! In conclusion, a coach that has nearly HALF of the UAl;bany America East / NCAA Div. 1 Championships, UNARGUABLY THE MOST IN ANY SPORT(S) BY ANY COACH IN UALBANY's FABLED SPORTS HISTORY.....NICE TO SEE HIM AND ALL THOSE INVOLVED IN HIS PROGRAM(S).... HAVE THE FIRST (OF TWO THAT ARE NEEDED) HOME FACILITY WHERE THE OUTDOOR MEN'S AND WOMEN'S PROGRAMS CAN ACTUALLY HAVE NCAA DIV. 1 SANCTIONED EVENTS.....AND , MOST OF ALL, A PLACE TO CALL................HOME!!
  3. My only question is ... When does the WORLD CLASS INDOOR Track and Field facility start it's construction for Coach Vives, his assistant coaching staff, and all the Track and Field interested parties that are part of the UAlbany Sports community?!? 28 years as Head Coach at UAlbany developing SIX...not ONE, but SIX...Sports programs, 26 America East Conference championships since 2002 in just Indoor and Outdoor Men's and Women's Track and Field programs, 16 America East staff honors / awards, 141 All America athletes, 14 individual NCAA Champions.... I could go on and on! Just recently, NINTH STRAIGHT America East Outdoor Track and Field championship for the Men's team and FIFTH STRAIGHT for the Women's team. You want to bet what sports program and coach will bring the most "national" sports attention and notoriety to the UAlbany sports culture, I will definitely go "all in" on Coach Vives now that he will have his WORLD CLASS Outdoor facility... heck, he has already proven he has the programs to develop the mental attitude and the physical stature that is required for an elite cross country / indoor / outdoor track and field athlete! $6 Million lousy dollars to finally see UAlbany be able to SHOWCASE it's campus and athletic facilities to the entire nation where it can spotlight it's PREMIER Outdoor Track and Field program that Coach Vives has established as one of the elite on the East Coast... all the while producing these results COMPLETELY ON THE ROAD!. So, again I ask, when does the INDOOR WORLD CLASS facility start it's construction?
  4. IMO, Iorizzo rehashes all the negatives that he stated in his Jan. 27 article and then puts a spin on the pessimistic, dim facts about the UAlbany team as what he says now...and people believe that he is "buying in" on the UAlbany team and coaches? Why not state that all the quotes in the Jan. 27 article made by the UAlbany players and, most of all, Coach Brown ("It's a dumb question!") were truths then and proven to be truths for the team as it continued its play through the conference tournament. To me, it's a little too much of a "tongue in cheek" article. Pete may be "choking on crow" but I sure would like to show him how to "ride (that) unicorn to Philadelphia"...and he won't need a saddle.
  5. UAlbany for the first time in the area, the region, the entire SUNY system is sending both the Men's and Women's basketball teams to the NCAA post season tournament and the coverage by the "little brother" of the defunct Knickerbocker News is less than what should be expected. To print an article that was based on some blog innuendo should show the entire region what the "journalistic professionalism" is of some of their columnists. Amazing that the blurb is then put on their "College Sports" blog only to spur on the lost souls of the other little school. I thought Mark S. would have written six articles by now on that blog relating to their basketball banquet that is coming up for them to comment on and to keep them "happy" (where they can argue over the color scheme, seating arrangements, and other pertinent items in their world now that their ONLY sport is done) . Best local coverage is by Andrew S. at The Troy Record. He's got articles, blog comments, video, and pics of the UAlbany team leaving today on his Twitter account. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS and continued success to the "Spring" teams like Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field (coming off one of the most productive Indoor seasons ever) and Lacrosse (where the Men are ranked and the Women not far behind)..oops, almost forgot...and softball (doing real well over the last 14 games ...12-2).
  6. Being familiar with UMASS - Amherst (for a certain specific reason), they have a nationally recognized 400 member "marching band" that has been in existance for many years. The "Minuteman Marching Band" tries to palce any and all participants that wish to be involved with the band. Many sections of the band require certain "skill sets" thus, auditions and an official "Band camp" has been established. Typically at these "Band Camps", the auditions and skill set activities are initiated to decide placement and "active / alternate" status. At UMASS, with the size of their band, one must remember that there are many other needs that just the musicians and band leader; there are needs for sound technicians, band aides (no, not the ones Johnson and Johnson make), and a host of other needs. UMASS startes that with all the personnel involved with it's Marching band over 90% of all these members are NOT Music majiors, but come from other areas of the UMASS student community! Allright, now...strike up "The Band" and lets go Coach "Abe" and Coach Brown!!
  7. Next big "litmus test" will be the contest versus Bucknell, glad to see that being played at HOME! Hopefully a solid win in that contest will lead to confidence and a winning attitude that will be necessary against Harvard and a great match-up with Hopkins in early April!
  8. I did see that an "essential" part of the General Contractor's "Critical Path" issues with contract items was scheduled to be completed this week. The General Contractor was scheduled to finish off the $12.45 "Renovation of the existing media upgrades to be utilized by Times Union personnel and their assigned representatives"....looking into the finer details for that part of the project, I learned that they restained ( with only the best in utilizing Lovitt's Wood Stain) a picnic table in the back of Sutter's on their rear patio for all Times Union representatives to use...along with several sets of binoculars to observe the action!! With the way the TU "reports" the ongoings of UA Sports, I think it was an overinvestment....LOL!
  9. OSHA VIOLATION, the third light from the left on the temporary lighting is broke off and could pose a safety hazard!! Who gave you their permission to post this JPG on-line....sorry, just wanted to "bust chops" (but the light does need to be taken care of)!
  10. With respect to the next 4 games question that was brought up, my take is as follows: Look at Hartford from the beginning of 2013; 2 - 0 at home, 1 - 2 away. IMO, the games against Hartford (away) and Boston University (at home) are THE BIGGEST ISSUES that face the UAlbany Men's basketball team over the short (and long) term; with the game on the road at Hartford being the BIGGEST item for the team ...right from the "git-go"!! The UAlbany Men's basketball team MUST take a viewpoint that the MOST IMPORTANT GAME of the season so far, even with their established 15 - 4 mark that they have produced, is TO WIN the game against Hartford. By UAlbany winning that game, where Hartford last lost on Nov 20, 2012 against LaSalle, Coach Brown should be able to establish SOME sort of...naw, make that MORE.. confidence and self-assurance in his UAlbany team that will hopefully produce a win at home against Boston University 4 days later. IF, and I say IF, UAlbany wins that game (again, the games against Hartford and BU are HUUGGEEE).against Boston University, then Coach Brown will ned to "keep everyone on the same page" and give Vermont their BEST game of the year, with SPECIAL EMPHASIS provided to the players on UAlbany's attitude and determination over it's previous 2 games and integrating how Vermont handed UAlbany a 'beatdown" only a few weeks ago...provide the team with the good.. and the bad, just to keep them "grounded" and focused. Now, enough of the prognostications... lets see what the team can do (JEEESH, Coach "Abe" doesn't have this much "drama", she just goes out and kicks every teams a$$)!
  11. Electrical contractor on site needs (whether part of electrical contract or an "extra" to contract) to install temporary lighting on the jobsite. This is a simple part of security / safety on the jobsite. I believe thats all you have onsite right now, figuring the electricians are installing conduit and wire in the walls, plumbers are installing their piping in the structure, media specialists are installing their wiring, etc... Possible concrete requirements are being poured and the interior walls, etc are being installed by the Carpenters union and Laborer's union personell on the project. Again, IMO.
  12. Final score : 78 - alot less!! I want a #25 jersey, hope Ms. Richards is as aggressive in the classroom as she is on the court!! If Coach "Abe" stays with UAlbany until Shereesha Richards graduates, I can't believe what type of player she will become!! What's even better is that I hope Ms. Richards pushes and motivates her teammates to a playing level they thought they could never attain!! IMO, Coach "Abe" has got to keep challenging, testing, and intriguing a player like Shereesha Richards to become her best. Check out the box score to see many of the players scoring, after the starters sat in the second half, the UAlbany players on the floor were as aggressive and as a cohesive group that had been on the playing floor all day. Check out the assists, I believe Rosario had 10! Saral Royals had a solid game... and I could go on. Coach "Abe" motivating her players to be their best .
  13. 42 -20 at halftime! Shereesha Richards is a BEAST!!! Coach "Abe" has this team playing AWESOME...Coach "Abe" now being interviewed at halftime on ESPN3. Definitly showing the voters had it right by taking UAlbany from "NR" to #19!
  14. Think about next year...Imani Tate being nationally ranked and devouring all that Coach "Abe" puts on her plate, Shereesha Richards as a sophomore MACHINE (where currently she only has 5 consecutive America East “Rookie of the Week” awards...hell, why don’t they just name her America East “Player of the YEAR” and get it over with...or am I disrespecting some other UAlbany player that’s playing better than her?!?), Megan Craig as a junior Center at 6” – 8” (where her play from freshman to this year as a sophomore is profound...imagine next year under Coach "Abes" tutelage!), Sarah Royals, Margarita Rosario, and Kenyontae Williams building on their growth from this year.... UAlbany Women’s Basketball program IS and WILL CONTINUE to be a POWERHOUSE!! From recruititing, to practicing, to developing the talent, to instilling a winning tradition, to demanding mental toughness, to establishing and maintaining physical development in her players, to making her players comprehend her basketball philosophies and ideals, to having the FORTITUDE to push your players to become the best that they can be...not only from a basketball standpoint , but as a student - athlete and as a PERSON....COACH ABE DOES THAT LIKE NO OTHER UALBANY WOMENS BASKETBALL COACH EVER HAS....again , in my "humble" opinion!
  15. Appreciate the suggestion, Maddog; I will try to liven up the views and opinions of the UAlbany Sports community on the basketball prowess that I believe Coach "Abe" exhibits, particularily from Day One when she arrived.
