Updated Hoopscoop Rankings

Recommended Posts

For our incoming class. I know these rankings are often inaccurate but it's good to see the recognition for our Danes to be. Here's our listings and some schools of interest:

On our rating 1-10 rating scale a top five player nationally is worth 10 points, a top 10 player nationally is worth nine points, a player in the 11-40 range nationally is worth eight points, a player in the 41-70 range nationally is worth six points, a player in the 71-100 range nationally is worth four points, a player in the 101-300 range nationally is worth three points, a player in the 301-1000 range nationally is worth two points, and anybody not ranked among the top 1000 gets one point. Junior college and prep school are factored in as if they were the equivalent of a high school senior.

I find it interesting that Logan, one of the more anticipated recruits got a ranking of 2 while everyone else has a three. I know we are supposed to take these rankings with a dump truck of salt but....WOW. I mean the two JUCO's are 3's as is Jake and Anthony. If even two or three pan out we could be looking at a GREAT recruiting class. Can't wait to see this team next year.

DP,

Any information on where Sofman ranks/ranked last season? I don't know if the info from last year is still available, but it would be interesting to see.

Take PoopScoop with a big grain of salt.

The interesting point isn't the total points which HoopScoop ranks the teams by because that's based on the number of recruits, they key figure is the avg per recruit, but even that can be misleading when you consider what an 8 does when avg 3 recruits.

None of these rating services have seen all the players they take the word of other sources.

It appears on paper we have a very solid recruiting class especially if Logan is a "2".

Overall the AE did well with Bing and UVM doing very well.

Sofman was a "2" but so were some of my favorite players: Jason Siggers, Brian Lillis and Levi Levine.

I just cited those three guys because as Patch said take these rankings with a truckload of salt. I'm pretty sure Hoopscoop had other guys ranked above those three in their classes and they ended up being the better players. The rankings are fun and I'm always glad to see good things about our recruits but they rival weathermen in terms of accuracy at this level.
