[MBB] Game #22: 1/21/18 - 2:00pm - vs UMBC

I went through my own personal stats records going back to since I started attending games in February 2006 and here is what I found:

vs Binghamton - 1/20/2011 - 36 points allowed (76-37)

vs Columbia - 11/17/2007 - 39 points allowed (70-38)

So this tied for our 2nd lowest amount allowed since I became a fan more than a decade ago.

We had our own sub-40 game against Vermont on 1/11/2014 where we lost on the road 68-38. We had a few games in the 40's (allowed) too over the years...and our own share of losses with us only scoring 40-something.

Other things gleaned from the stats today:

- They shot 10% from 3 for the game

- We barely got the line and I thought the game was quite physical. We usually gets large chunks of our points at the line.

- We nearly doubled them on the boards...Foster and Stire were monsters on the boards having only 5 less boards between them than the entire UMBC team...when we control the boards like this usually we play much better...

- We shared the ball and got 20 assists which is 1 off our season high and only the 4th time we've gotten 20. This means that people played smart, didn't force shots, and got the open man looks.

- Last two games we've had 18 steals which is way over our average of less than 5 a game. This shows the defense is getting better and forcing turnovers.

Maybe this team is finally turning the corner...after our initial shocking 0-2 AE start, we're 4-1 in our last 5.

Here is the stats tracker post-game:

I am so confused.

To quote Clack: we know nothing.

David was 5 for 5 from three. UMBC hit no threes in the first half and we had passion.

When the team plays well we win and when they don't we don't. Sometimes its as simple as that. We are an inconsistent team that needs to get consistent.

Gotta keep the energy up.

The swings are too large to be that simple. It's like there are two totally different teams. One team is bottom 3 in America East and the other is top 2.

Hopefully this was a coming out party

I thought that after the Maine game. I'm still very confused....

This was a more extreme version of our games against them last year. We've been a tough matchup for them and Devonte does a nice job on Lyles.

It seems like Foster gets hacked and shoved without it being called more than anyone. Maybe I just notice it more with him.

When Clark plays well he really makes us tough.

Nice drive by Fruscio but he should have gone for the dunk. :D

I've said it before. I'll say it again. CB crushes these guys in practice in early season, including early conference. I believe, in anticipation of Wed., he's given them a bit more rest and BINGO, you see a team with energy. Obviously it helps that UMBC couldn't throw the ball into a black hole tonight but this is my theory of this season thus far.

Agree...coincidence how well David plays to how well the team plays??? I think not..

any update on Cremo?? watching game on phone that was as bad a looking inverted roll as I have seen and he def. came down on it too....hopefully looked worse than it is.

as far as that sub situation...I believe it was disallowed because the whistle blew for a non-basketball related issue???

I think it was because Costa came out of the game the play before, then the time out, he couldn't go back in until a play had occured. Once you leave the floor you can't come back in until some time had rolled off the clock.

That's not what I remember but I haven't re-watched the game.

1) Costa checks in

2) One play is ran, Costa is actively in the game

3) Whistle is blown for <some issue>

4) Team comes back out onto the floor, NO SUB CHANGE

5) Costa is told he can't be on the floor, Cochran comes in

Costa never 'came out' until he was forced to come out. As far as I saw from my seat.

It was odd...I was focused on the refs/Brown the whole time it was going on.

I said in the UVM thread, some swelling and still sore, no practice today and probably not tomorrow, we’ll see on Wed.
