Ah UConn.

 

Brown has no storied program behind him playing or coaching, wonder about that impact with him getting/not getting large offers. Coaching is who you know and who you can help out. (Just look at Browns current staff)

90 wins in three years at Sullivan County CC, a national final and a semifinal. But JC doesn't make contacts or a national reputation.

On a side note GDG was curious Pikiell's record vs. Browns knowing that we had a few losing seasons here and there:

 

Since Steve Pikiell took over Stony Brook, Pikiell is 192-156, 1 NCAA and Brown is 207-152, 5 NCAAs.

 

Lucky Brown hadn't taken any offers. Here's hoping they sign him up for a few more years.

To be honest I wouldn't put much into comparing overall records. If you want to compare NCAAs that's another story.

 

Plus, SB is in a bigger media market so when you win here you'll get coverage from all the NY newspapers. Piekiell also has a pimp in Jim Calhoun.

And everyone knows how hard it is to win mid major conference tournaments so these big name schools look more at the regular season championships. He won't need to win a conference tournament at Rutgers to bring them to the dance. Going .500 in conference would prob get them in or on the bubble

FWIW Brown and Benson had lunch at ATSP today. A third guy was with them that I didn't get close enough to recognize.

 

I've seen Will at the Pub often with the coaching staff, but not Benson.
