Will Brown

Recommended Posts

Newsday had an article on the salaries and incentives for coaches in the ncaa tournament.

Pikell lost out on 10k from missing the tournament. He makes $372,550/year and will receive a 50k longevity bonus on 4/1. Not sure what a longevity bonus is though.

Will brown received a $7500 bonus for the automatic bid. He has a base on $295,000/year.

The max bonus he can make from the ncaa tournament is $148k. At large bid is 5k, round of 64 win 5k, round of 32 win 10k, sweet 16 win 15k, elite 8 win 25k, final 4 win, 35k, and a ncaa championship win 50k.

This April Pikiell will have completed ten years on the job. A bonus for sticking around that long.

With cost of living would you guys say those salaries are comparable ?

Food/gas and all other things like that are not much different. The only thing that I could see being different largely is the price of homes and property school taxes. Coach knows since he is from the island.

I think you read the max bonuses wrong because it doesn't say anything with respect to the bonus structure you list. That was for other coaches.

Edit: stand corrected. The base is 295k for Will...but there are a ton of bonuses.

COLA in Suffolk County is much different than the COLA for Albany. (Cost of Living Adjustment). We have employees in both areas, and we have to give them different pay rates. And, as you mention, the taxes are much higher than in Albany for property.

This information is readily available at see through NY website. It's kind of creepy to look up people's salaries but I guess that's part of the gig being a public employee.

No. Will is underpaid for his accomplishments if you compare them to Steve.

But, the numbers are wrong, in how they are accounted for in the article. Steve's base salary is $314k. So, basically, he gets a $20k bump for Long Island. But Steve gets a $50k lump sum from "Supplemental" income, which under employment law is a bonus structure. It's for media appearances, etc. So, yes, Steve gets $364 unless he effs up...plus a 5k discretionary fund...plus the auto allowance.

That list was only for ncaa bonuses for making tournament.

Listening to wyland and he said will brown will be unavailable to do his normal spot as he will be traveling today and tomorrow. Recruiting, job interviews, or both? Let the speculations begin.

Brown was recruiting heavily this weekend although locally. I'm pretty sure he's pounding the pavement on the recruiting trail?
