Senior -- Sam Rowley

Recommended Posts

With all the press the team has been getting I think Sam may have not gotten all the end of year accolades that he should have. So I though we could post our thoughts on how much he grew, his contributons on court, his leadership..especially this season and how great he has been as a representative for the school.

I'm not sure who will pick up his place next year, big shoes to fill but Sam has been on of our best!

Sam was a 1000+pt scorer, more than 750 rebounds..number 1 in our D1 history, 3 NCAA appearances, first team all conference in 2014-15 AND 3 time conference academic team!

He will be missed, especially his reverse layups or his spins, so entertaining and great student athlete!

Indeed, to all.

Now that I've had a couple of days to "relax" from fandom, the harsh reality sets in that Sam will no longer be on the hardwood for us. Others will need to step-up, big time.

Sam's new /old jjob continues...a member of the Purple Fam / Fans.

I will remember Sam more for just how articulate he was and how he always said just the right thing in just the right way. I know he came to UA for basketball, but EVERY time I heard him interviewed he just made me so proud to have attended UA. What an amazing student athlete and ambassador for the University.

Point Two. I do not know what his plans are, but it would be great if stayed local another year to continue his support for Peter {another amazing ambassador} and to assist Mike in developing his basketball potential. Selfish I know. Anyhow Sam WILL be a success in anything he endeavors for all the reasons and more mentioned in this thread.

I got to know Sam a bit from the NCAA trips with the band, and he really is a great guy. Nobody really plays the game like he does, his "crocodile rolls", and his poise. Really nice guy, always said hi whenever I bumped into him, even before games when others were focused on getting ready to play. Will really miss seeing him in purple and gold next year.

Sam was a great representative for the school. He will be missed. Just a great person Good luck to him! Another post mentioned he was our best post player in Division 1. I tend to agree. In fact, is there any other player in our Division 1 era who we might be able to compare to Sam? Just asking.
