Coach Brown

Recommended Posts

I don't mean to start a conversation about something that isn't yet an issue..but after seeing a number of journalists, reporters, fans, etc. comment about Coach Brown generating 'higher' program interest over the past couple weeks..it will be interesting to see how the off season plays out.

Haven't seen anything specific..but there are some programs that could make sense. Boston College if Tommy Amaker doesn't work out? Marshall from Conference USA? We know he turned down St. Bonaventure from the A-10 in 2007..so it would seem that he..at least then..wasn't just looking to make the jump the first chance he gets.

And I wonder if any of the assistant get looks..if they're interested. O'Donnell and Friel have both been here for all 4 NCAA bids. Regional low mid-majors could make sense.

Wanna start a rumor that New Hampshire fires Herrion, Friel returns to his alma mater where his father was HC for twenty years?

I'd be SHOCKED if B.C. came calling. That would be quite the leap. I think it's Amaker's to reject.

Marshall...not a job I think he'd take. It's a no win job at a football / soccer school. St. Bonnie was a better job.

Now....THAT's how you start a rumor. But...Friel would ask for assurances...like give me program $$$ and games at the Whit.

Herrion went 9-20 last season..and UNH responded by giving him an extension through 2015-16. He followed that deal up with a 6-24 record this season. He's been at UNH 9 years..all losing seasons. Hasn't had a winning conference record any of those years. Was at East Carolina for 6 years before UNH..never had a winning season..losing Conference USA record each of those years. It seems like a Supreme Court seat for Herrion.

Friel taking that job makes too much sense.

Much more concerned about Coach Abe leaving. I think that Brown is truly happy with his situation, it's what he says to anyone willing to listen. His priorities have changed since the first 2 trips to the dance.

This.

Not to mention his family/wife always talk to us season ticket holders. Our section has gotten to know one another quite a bit and I think both of them love Albany.

Masiello leaving for USF could Brown leave for Manhattan? Seems like more coaches have left manhattan for BCS schools in most recent memories ie. Bobby Gonzalez who went to seton hall before getting axed.

Maybe you haven't been around since the first NCAA appearances but Will Brown is NOT going to Manhattan

with the bonuses he made close to $350K last year (in the Capital District that is GOOD money)

base pay was just under $300K

Listen to what the man says - he is not even looking at this point

Listen to the Francesa interview in one of the other threads - Coach Brown lays it right out

Yes I have been following since the first tournament appearances and I was the one that brought up the francessa interviews. That did not stop him from interviewing with Dartmouth and you can never say never.

If memory serves the Dartmouth thing he was in a really vulnerable position with years winding down. With this back to back and a W in the tourney, he probably feels about as secure as he'll ever feel as he should.

That is true.
