#104333 [MBB] Game #12: 12/12/17 - 9:00pm - @ Memphis

Posted by UA'08 on 12 December 2017 - 03:47 PM

I want to see a competitive game with a chance to win at the end of the game. They are still Memphis so I think they'd beat us 9 times if we played them 10 times. I will be disappointed if we get blown out by 20+ though.

#104330 [MBB] Game #11 12/09/17 7:37 vs Siena at TUC

No need to give us any tickets. Well also leave the band, cheerleaders, mascot etc back at home. No student section either.

Just pay us 50k as a guarantee.

Biggest test of the season thus far and there is still more activity on that $iena thread. That series is over until they make a call to us end of story. Benson should not be the one to initiate anything.

Lets get that check tonight and steal a W.

Discussion starts on page 12 of the Bryant thread.
The CSNBB board is more active.

Wow. We're getting some respect on there. I know Memphis isn't what it used to be (when Derrick Rose was there, for example), but it's still a big program. If we beat them, will this be better, worse or the same as us beating Washington that one year?
No respect! Theyre mixing us up with Siena!

#104098 Terrible America East!

Big fish in small pond, or little fish in big pond. As a fan, I'll take the big pond realizing that we wont be the favorites most years. But that is just me. I'd rather be 0-16 in the Big East for 5 years but be growing to a bigger future than 15-1 in the America Least fighting with UVM every year in relative obscurity.

Why do schools fund athletics and try to grow their programs? Most people would say that it is to build school spirit and enhance campus life, but the real reason is that national success brings name recognition to your degree and thus adds more value to your degree.

I recently got into an argument with a casual sports fan in my company from another part of the state who didn't believe that UA was even D1.

Amen to that. The only thing this league has done right since I started following Albany is move all games to espn3.

I don't think it's really complaining. It was a solid schedule on paper preseason, but got a little bit unlucky with the way our opponents have been playing. The Memphis and Kent State games should tell us where we stack up.

Drawing barely over 2k when your team is 8-1 is a bit of a concern to me especially when I see people wanting a 6k seat SEFCU renovation. Better off finding a pay game on the road. We'd probably make more money off that than the gate yesterday against a bottom feeder NEC team.

In the end 9-1 is fantastic.

#103783 [MBB] Game #7: 11/27/17 - 7pm - @ Monmouth

KenPom or not, I don't think Monmouth and Colgate are similar at all. From the years of watching Albany play Colgate, they just chuck from three and play no defense (not like we have been either). Monmouth physically beat us up as the team that just came off four OTs.

If this team is as good as everyone is saying, we should take the next three at home. Obviously one game at a time, but it will be very disappointing losing to either Colgate, Columbia, or Bryant.

The way we lost bothers me more than anything.

Some gamesmanship to make them think we are banged up a little bit maybe?

Keep it the way it is. Continue adding more chairbacks like they have over the years. A nice paint job will go a long way. A new court as well

I honestly like the way the baseline bleachers are set up. I would not want to change that at all. if you look at pictures those things are so incredibly steep that you are literally on top of the court. If you build an arena today I don't know if you'd be able to make them that steep.

If the students actually ever gave a crap about going to games, SEFCU the way it is would be a hard place to play for an opposing team.

How much would it cost to pain the bleachers and seats purple. Those were towels on the seats, but a nice paint job will make it look a lot nicer.

Also think in the paint area on the court it should be purple too. The bright yellow and light wood combo isn't the greatest.

We have a chance to start off the season 3-0. I don't think that's ever happened before in the D1 era.

Anyone know how the ticket sales are going?

Saw this on the Iona forum. Not sure how in depth this mid major poll is, but preseason #14 is pretty darn good.
