Yup. Overtime, I think you will see us slowly acquire more of the Harriman Campus. It offers no true current tax benefit to the State, and even though University use is likely not going to increase the tax rolls per se, the ability to expand both student and teacher/support staff populations will entice more businesses to come into the area at higher rents...and the State will reap indirect tax benefits.

I would not be shocked to see us acquire more than half of that land.

Let's see, last September was a proposal to consolidate State public health labs near the northwest corner of the Harriman campus (near Washington Ave.) http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/211946/harriman-campus-mega-lab-report-is-for-their-eyes-only/

Then last Saturday was a story on a $152 million plan to develop the eastern end of the campus. This story also lists renovation plans for most of the buildings in the middle of the campus.

Together these won't leave an unlimited space for University purposes, unless they completely reconfigure the road network. Room for a couple of buildings at edges, maybe.

I emailed the writer of the Business Journal story to ask if she knew exactly where's this "parcel" that UAlbany "acquired".
