We're 1-3 point favorites on Sagarin's rankings, 2-point dogs on Realtime RPI, but the Sportbet line opened at Albany +6.

 

However, Maine's QB Dan Collins got a throwing shoulder injury in the fourth quarter vs. Stony Brook last week and it doesn't look promising. Maine, already last in many CAA offensive categories, may have to start a freshman quarterback.

Chris Onorato on Wyland's radio show today said some of our players told him that not only they expect to win, that this is a MUST win.

 

On the coach's show he will be saying that we'll have to use Omar more than last week, establish ground control.

I don't know how strong Stony Brook's defense is.... but Maine's offense did not look good against it.

Is it accurate to say that Maine isn't as strong as last year, and we are stronger?.

Stony Brook is ranked 4th in FCS in scoring defense at 12.1 ppg, though against some weak teams - see Maine ranked 108th scoring offense at 14.0 ppg. SBU fan points out they do this while being on the field a lot with their own offense ranked 107th.

Their offense has been marginally better since making a QB switch a couple of weeks ago.

 

As you said their schedule works out pretty well for them also. Of their 8 CAA games, they play 6 of the teams in the bottom half of the conference standings including the three winless teams - Towson, URI and Elon.

 

Compared to our schedule, we play 6 of the teams in the top half of the conference including all three teams that are undefeated - Villanova, Delaware and UNH and only one of the winless teams - URI. Those are the breaks.

Am at Kohls and this little kid, maybe 7 said 'Dad so you know who my favorite college football team is (while in the Syracuse sweatshirt section ) .. his dad asked who, and he said "UAlbany".. that's the kind of community impact you want. Little kids admiring UA at a young age. Dad was like why/who lol. Kid knows what's up.
