Meanwhile the TU reports the U has bought 9 acres south of the campus

This seems to be the wooded area between the Interfaith Center (formerly Chapel House) and the SEFCU parking lot.

TU+ story today about another proposal for "upscale student housing" (sounds like an oxymoron to me) at the site of the Red Carpet Inn on Washington Ave. Two other proposals haven't gone anywhere. Proposal for 314-bed, four-story project identical to the one at 1475 Washington that broke ground last year. GSX Solutions LLC says it will include parking for 180, clubhouse, fitness facility and study rooms.

University goal is to increase enrollment to 20,000 by 2020.

wow, that place is nice. wish it was around when I was a student! kids these days have it easy :)

Assuming you (or your parents) were willing to pay the premium for these luxury digs.

2016-17 dorm rate will be $8042-$12101 per year for up to a 4-person apartment, http://www.albany.edu/housing/roomrates.shtmlthese are $895-$1335 per person per month.

Yeah, I lived in a house that was falling down on Quail Street next to the Going Greek store.

Yep, I know where that is. I lived on Hudson in the late 90's. A buddy of mine went back recently and sent me a pic of the house. I was shocked that it was still standing. What a $iena hole

I go up a lot for games and always take a drive through the old neighborhood. I lived there 94-96.

That's about the going rate. When I was starting out my current consulting gig/contract last summer I had to relocate to Newark, NJ for 2 and a half months and paid University Centre (across the street from NJIT) $1,100 or so for a very similar type of apartment...but there stuff was a little older as it wasn't brand new. It beat paying $1,800 for a run down apartment in some crappy part of NJ though. Came with a garage parking space, Subway/Quicky Mart/Pizza Hut on the first level. I never lived in a dorm (local kid who went to HVCC/UA) so it was kind of a neat experience.

I chuckle every time I see this $iena filter in action...
