Since the school finally posted the roster for the upcoming season, I think it is about time that the women's team has its thread to start the season. Notably, as was rumored when she was absent from a team picture earlier this summer, Zakiya Saunders is no long listed on the roster, and I have not seen her pop up as a transfer elsewhere. Possibly an early graduation? Elsewhere, they have three of Coach Abe's recruits in Alexi Schecter © and Khepera Stokes (G) on the roster and Mackenzie Trpcic (G), which shows that the program on its own has enough clout that even when the coach who builds it leaves, the recruits (aside from the uber-talented Kaela Hilare) stay. They have added Kumsal Aslan from Turkey, a 5'8" guard, and Chyanna Canada, a 6'2" forward who originally committed to Temple but left after one semester last fall. I would imagine that she will be redshirting this year.

Big question for this year's team is who takes over at the 1 with Saunders leaving. Otherwise, your roster would probably shake out like this:

1. Freshman PG

2. Tate

3. Edwards

4. Forster

5. Carter

I can see Bailey Hixson getting some more playing time for her perimeter shot, but have no idea what to expect from any of the other freshmen, aside from that Schecter is 6'3". Looking forward to the season to start!

Ah, well best of luck to her down there. Glad we didn't lose more of the team down to sunny Florida.

TU+ season preview http://www.timesunion.com/tuplus-sports/article/New-look-same-goal-for-UAlbany-women-s-basketball-10601856.php#item-38491

If you talk to current players and coaches, you hear the same confidence you have heard for the past few seasons.
"I expect us to work hard toward winning," said senior guard Imani Tate, the best player on the roster. "If you are a competitive athlete, you don't want to lose."
"Imani is a great player, and every team in our conference knows that," Bernabei-McNAmee said. "One of the things we are trying to help her develop, and she is developing, is how to incorporate her teammates in the offense to take the load off her shoulders a little bit, because she is going to get double-teamed."
"This is the first opportunity I have ever had to take a program that is already accomplished and get to see if I can keep it there and grow it from that point," Bernabei-McNamee said. "How can you grow it from winning in the first round of the NCAA Tournament? Well, we'll try to go farther. This program already has a championship mentality. I don't have to teach them how to work hard."
"We don't know anything but winning, so we are all going to buy into (Bernabei-McNamee)," Tate said. "We know what it takes to win a championship."

Final UK 70 Albany 46.

TJ ran into a KU player and it looked like her neck bent back. She went down and didn't move for a couple of minutes but got up and walked off under her own power.

Team played ok for some stretches, but shot only 24%. Even with a couple of 5-minute droughts, they cut the lead to 13 late in the third quarter. Carter wen down with 8 1/2 minutes to go.

Announcers were impressed with how many offensive rebounds we got (but you can them unless you miss a shot first).

I won't get too critical after one game, but I must say this: Coach Mac looks really unprofessional chewing her gum that aggressively throughout the game.

I don't think I have ever seen a D1 coach chew gum like that.
