[MBB] Game #7: 11/27/17 - 7pm - @ Monmouth

I don't think it was a bad loss . Monmouth shoots 50 percent and we were a little off. Coach can use this to show that you really need to play defense because we really really lack that!

Slightly off offense night (a ton of turnovers ) and we can't beat a good time . Good teaching lesson . Come back better.

radio post game...

Coach said we lost our poise, missed FT, let calls get to us, and said we didn't respond. Poise and decision making hurt us. Will didn't like much about the game, maybe last 10mins of first half. Didn't think we got poise and composure, falls on his shoulders during time outs, and told players to stop complaining. Thinks team was tired.. Will said he didn't play his bench enough on perimeter and that was on him. Didn't like that Joe and David tried to take quick shots that played into Monmouth's hands. Thinks it will end up being good for them, wake up call to the starting 5 that they need composure also the lack of knowing what we're doing in crucial times by the bench wasn't great. Learning experience. They failed the test today. His job is to get them better and not get caught up in riff raff. Said Monmouth had men who played physical, not cheap shots, just physical and that physical game got to the team and got in the players heads (ie: them complaining).

Not happy with this loss but it was a perfect storm.

-third game of a three game road trip.

-our engine (Nichols) didn't look like himself because of the wrist injury. It might have been better to hold him out.

-Monmouth got their best player back (Seaborn) from injury.

Tough to give away a game we could've won..especially against a strong team like Monmouth..but a bit surprised by the negativity here. Lost by single digits in our toughest game of the year..given opponent and location.

Uncharacteristic FT shooting. Monmouth guards disrupted and turned over Nichols and Cremo..especially in the second half. Foul trouble in our front court didn't allow for any consistent play down low. If/when Conway figures out his role on offense..that will help situations like tonight. All that and we lost by single digits against a really good team on the road.

That said..pretty surprised we didn't see more Anderson or Clark..especially in the second half. Anderson especially I think has helped spell Nichols when he's gotten into funks. 78 minutes between Nichols and Cremo tonight with another game in two days.
