Meet and Greet

Recommended Posts

Big crowd. Everybody got a copy of a DVD "Leave a Legacy, the 2014 America East Champions". Kids had fun introducing themselves and answering questions. Purple & Gold game will be Oct. 25 at 6:30 after the football game. Coach was heading off for dinner with a recruit after the Meet.

Team may be quicker than any we've had in a while. Schedule will be released soon, there's one team that forgot to return their contract but it should be done in a few days. Preseason scrimmages will be against Iona and Marist. CWB likes the new tournament format, since we probably wouldn't host it again for at least six years (after Hart, Bing and SB).

Official team practices start October 9th. I believe the recruit they were going out to dinner with was the former Stony Brook player.

I thought you need to sit out 2 years if you transfer within conference?

Not if they first go JUCO, that's if he transferred from SBU directly into UA.

Oh ok. I knew there was some sort of 2 year rule

With 15 on the roster, I would think one or two Redshirts? I know it is early and practice does not even "officially" (even though individual, small group and weight training have been going on for a while) start until 10/9; anyone have any thoughts/ideas??

If I heard right:

Peters introduced himself as a junior--roster says soph and I believe I read he had 3 years of eligibility?

Ede E introduced himself as a junior--roster says senior and I believe he did say this was his last year?

Can anyone confirm their actual status?

Thanks for the updates about the meet and greet.

About redshirting. I don't see a lot of good candidates. Greg Stire seemed like the most likely but CB said on the radio last week that Stire has played better than expected over the summer and would likely play this year.

Otherwise, it doesn't seem like we'd redshirt any of the juco players. Two of the incoming freshman, Mike Wells and Max Twyman, have already prepped for a year. It doesn't seem like they would redshirt. The other two freshman, Wheeler Baker and Geremy McKay, I might have too high expectations of them but they seem like players who could contribute right away.

There always seems to be some attrition as the year goes on. We seemed to have plenty of guards going into last year then Jiggitts transfered and Odunsi had the injury and we were a little guard scarce for certain parts of the season.
