#100774 CAA Media Day 7/25

Posted by jimbo on 27 July 2017 - 04:38 AM

I died at Gattusso saying he's blessed with two GREAT (placed an emphasis on GREAT) quarterbacks. LOL...who would they be? These two stunk last year. Couldn't make a pass to save their life, nothing over the middle or deep etc.

In fact the quarterback position is a solid D- at UA unless some quantum leap has been achieved from last year to this yea.

Maybe GG has been watching too much Trump coverage. Passing game will be HUGE, best ever. QBs are GREAT and you'll be amazed at the HUGE improvement.

All seriousness aside, I'm getting pumped! Harris will be back, got a likely stud TE, got some size and skill for interior D line. QBs
Will have to step up.

I worked at the Harriman Campus for a number of years and Eli's idea seems very sensible. So they probably won't do it. The campus can be confusing at first for some people, but it's really simple to navigate.

#100530 UAlbany takes home its 5th straight America East Commissioner's Cup

Is this something that other conferences look at when deciding who they want to invite in? I'd think we'd be appealing to others considering our programs consistently know how to win.

I have looked into this a ton. It really comes down to MONEY and a major COMMITMENT to athletics... we r unwilling to do either ...
When your governor is more interested in who gets to use what bathroom in another state than supporting the state university's sports teams then you know we have no chance of moving up.
Jesus give it up already. Been there done that thread.

Well excuse me for expressing my opinion...I guess only yours matters.

Is that what I said? I said there was already a thread on that. Why bring it back into a different one.

See, I think this is appropriate for this thread. In most other states the state's leaders are proud of and support the state school athletic teams. Here we have a state school that has won the league commissioner's cup

5 times in a row and is far and away the most successful D1 state school in NY and we have to fight to play a league game at a school that is not subject to the rule and has denounced the rule. Political posturing, political grandstanding, whatever. It shows a lack of support that would be a detriment to any move up to a higher level.

Face offs are funny. The same guy that TD dominated last week is giving Baptiste fits.

Now the day after...I am REALLY glad that Denver lost. Their coach is really a jerk.

#100429 2017 Football Recruits/Commits

Posted by jimbo on 24 May 2017 - 11:39 PM

I'm not a lawyer (nor do I play one on TV).....the CAA has a $300,000 penalty fee if the visiting team unilaterally cancels. However, the penalty would not be applicable if the cancellation was due to

"force majeure." Which quick research indicates that Prince Andy's executive order might well be force majeure. So the argument is probably over whether it is essential travel, if the penalty applies and

maybe who ponies up the cost of moving the game to a neutral site 150 miles away. They should put it on the gov's tab.

Tough year. New O Line, unsettled/young QB, C-USA is not a powerhouse, but ODU is not UB, Elon is looking more and more like a forfeit unless they pull a rabbit out of their hats (and one of our likely conference wins goes poof), EB comes back as EB or eb? Let's see how they look when everyone shows up for pre-season. Probably need a new thread for all of this speculation....

#100395 NCAA quarterfinal Danes versus Maryland

Posted by jimbo on 22 May 2017 - 07:13 AM

In years past we would have taken a close to 50% FO percentage, but the shot deficit this time was severe. Masterful move by the Md coaching staff to send in the senior FO specialist. They must have seen something in style vs style or maybe just the greater experience. He certainly dominated TD, thereby eliminating our transition game almost entirely. JD was like a deer in the headlights for a while. Maryland's defensive game plan was superior. I read that they decided to have Rambo attack primarily from out front vs his more usual place behind the cage. So it seems to me that Md out game planned and excecuted and that's all she wrote. I look forward to next year.

Most of the time their defenders were like brick walls while our side employed a matador defense. Of course the defense was gassed due to lost turnovers and TD losing his mojo for the big game. On to next year.

If I was Fields I would demand that the video be taken down. Absolutely embarrassing.

The Fields article was mainly how he was underrecruited and when UA first had a look at him he was 5-3 and 115 lbs. frank Resitaris coached his club team and alerted Marr. UA was the only offer he had from a D1 team. When he got to Albany Lyle Thompson asked that he be paired up with him on the road, etc. took him under his wing. Now a Fields is doing the same with Patterson.

I don't know...the bottom line for me is that UA has a golden opportunity, ranking or seeding be damned. Home game, possibly big crowd, defending national champs, national tv, U f'n NC, WIN and nothing matters. Lose and all of the doubters are right. One game to establish UA as a player with the big boys. Get it done and the rest is meaningless. Since I went to one game this year and we lost, I think I'll watch on tv and enjoy the mammoth crowd and the victory. Beer is cheaper and the walk to the bathroom is shorter...lol.

total utter garbage...what a bunch of bull$iena. N. Carolina in the first round, and then if you survive that play Maryland? #3 RPI and that's the garbage you get? Unreal.

Only one way to change that. Beat one of these teams when it matters.

Pure political grandstanding by Cuomo. If he's so concerned about human rights, why did he travel to Cuba and help prop up a repressive communist dictatorship?
