TU+ story Victory over UNH provides blueprint

The 69-55 win ended some days and nights of frustration where the Danes ran around the court and two players — leading scorers David Nichols and Joe Cremo — tried to do everything by themselves.

"When David and I are trying to take every shot, it's just not going to work," Cremo said

In some of the recent games for the Danes, Nichols and Cremo took it upon themselves to beat their opponents. Against Stony Brook, a 72-65 loss at home, Cremo and Nichols combined to take 27 of the team's 52 shots. They made a combined eight.
While Brown was beating his head against his clipboard after such games, there was a part of him that understood.
"That hard part is, and I can't fault them for this, is that those guys want to win so badly," Brown said. "Sometimes, I think they think they have to do everything to win."There were a few moments against New Hampshire when it looked like Brown's head might explode after watching a few of the Danes' offensive possessions. Nichols drove one-on-three and shot an airball; he went for an uncontested layup and tried for a tomahawk dunk. The ball clanged against the back of the rim and ended up at the other end of the floor with a 3-pointer for New Hampshire.

Brown has said for a long time that the 6-foot-6 Charles is the best offensive big man the Danes have. He is almost automatic when he takes his turnaround jump shot in the paint. He is shooting a team-best 58.5 percent from the field (72-for-123). "We are getting great energy from Travis," Brown said.
Charles said he has embraced his role. He said he studies the game as it unfolds, and, when called on, goes in and does whatever the Danes need for him to do. He is averaging 7.6 points (8.5 in the conference). "Sometimes they need me for offense," Charles said. "Sometimes rebounding, taking charges, defense. Basketball is a team sport, man. I am trying to do anything I can to help us get over the hump."

With the snow today I'm glad:

A) This is a road game and not a home game (for attendance)

B) This is a road game that isn't the Maine trip.

One of the things that wasn't mentioned in the story, I actually thought our defense was pretty good in the UNH game also.

I'm sorry, but Rowley is terrible. He needs to go the way of Grayson and spend the majority of his time planted on the bench. He was much better last year, don't know what happened to him. His offensive awareness is non-existent. Defensively, he gives up too much. Might as well call him Mike Charmin Rowley. No toughness and either fouls or lets the guy back him down and score.

I know that might be a bit scathing of a post, but it's bad. Real bad.

Who is "Will Smith, UAlbany's coach"? These announcers suck. I can't stand guys who don't come prepared. It's your job...goodness. Is Wyland or Bye this bad in relation to other teams? I never hear them because I go to all home games.

I HATE being negative . But we constantly play 5 on 4 with Rowley out there . He is terrible offensively. No idea why Brown sticks with him.

Probably a bit of seniority rules...he's getting playing time because it would be hard to bench a guy who's been part of the rotation for the 3 prior years. He's playing because he's a senior.

I hate to negative in a big win. Mike does have 3 RB's and a steal.
