NCAA quarterfinal Danes versus Maryland

Recommended Posts

A tough pill to swallow, but only one team ends feeling great about themselves. I just wish it had been a more compelling game.

Osika, Drake, and Lasda, along with the other seniors will be missed, but a lot of guys are back.

Tehoka is clearly the, big, new piece, but there are 2-3 other positions that need to be improved over the off season in order for Albany to take the next step.

Thanks for an exciting season Danes!

In years past we would have taken a close to 50% FO percentage, but the shot deficit this time was severe. Masterful move by the Md coaching staff to send in the senior FO specialist. They must have seen something in style vs style or maybe just the greater experience. He certainly dominated TD, thereby eliminating our transition game almost entirely. JD was like a deer in the headlights for a while. Maryland's defensive game plan was superior. I read that they decided to have Rambo attack primarily from out front vs his more usual place behind the cage. So it seems to me that Md out game planned and excecuted and that's all she wrote. I look forward to next year.

I was there live. I wish I was not. I've seen every home game, plus two scrimmages in sub freezing temperatures, plus @ cuse; and believe me that was NOT UA out there yesterday. Maryland was amazing, they could do no wrong; but the UA team I saw all year "could" compete with them. The Albany group that showed up yesterday was like watching a team I had never seen before. Certainly Maryland was bigger, stronger, faster. I do not know why UA, had no boise, no hustle, no mojo, no UA lacrosse. Perhaps we were TO confident going in, and once we got down, we got rattled and forgot HOW to play--I just do not know????????????????

I don't put too much stock in this, especially when 3/4 teams in the final four are well below the mean, and the top two teams got knocked out, and Albany and Towson took down teams littered with UA All Americans.

Not to say there isn't merit in rankings and these lists. I think one would be a liar after watching a rested Maryland and saying their overal team speed and size wasn't superior to the Danes on Sunday.

I think Albany is 2-3 guys away from having an elite roster. One of those guys is coming in next year. I'm not super familiar with 2017 recruiting class, but I do think at least one of the other missing pieces is on the roster, and was a little surprised we didn't see more of him, but I am guessing the game might have been moving a little to fast for him to have played more minutes as a freshmen.
