Received the following e-mail in my Albany mail today....the part in bold is what I wanted to call attention to. Is this process something the University goes through ever year for the upcoming year or is this something more substantial...5-10 year plan? Just throwing it out there....perhaps someone has some insight.

Dear UAlbany Community:

The University at Albany is in the final stages of creating a shared
vision for and definition of diversity. This effort is being led by Dr.
Tamra Minor, the University's Chief Diversity Officer. Dr. Minor's
office has compiled and analyzed feedback from focus group sessions and
survey data from more than 1,000 UAlbany faculty, staff and students who
offered their ideas on a UAlbany vision for diversity.

This information has been used as the basis for a draft vision statement
and definition of diversity. I ask that you please review the posted
drafts and reply with your feedback and suggestions. We will attempt to
incorporate your comments and finalize the draft so it is a true
reflection of the University. This new vision and definition will help
inform the upcoming strategic planning process.
Please provide your
feedback no later than December 1st by logging on to MyUAlbany at
http://www.albany.edu/myualbany/

Sincerely yours,

George M. Philip
President

They might be referring to Chancellor Zimpher's SUNY-wide strategic planning initiative.

Most organizations do a 5-year strategic plan.

I am in the midst of one right now.

In the latest e-mail from President Philip..."I have received dozens of excellent nominations, and am currently working to assemble a Committee that will create a new statement of our mission and strategic goals, and a 5-7 year strategic blueprint for achieving our objectives."
