  1. Only 1 more home game (12/19 - Sacred Heart) until the second game of the conference season on 1/13 (Bing). This early season has been hard with so much travel. I get it, we need some buy games and we weren't sure the arena would be ready until after the schedules were completed, but this grind has to be hard on the team.

They definitely look MUCH better than last year, and have been exciting to watch. Still way too many turnovers, too many missed layups/easy shots, and a defensive efficiency that puts them near the bottom of D1 (not LCC bottom, but Q4 at #283) so while there is plenty to be excited about, there is still a lot of work to do before we "Bring on the America East" and Vermont/UML have anything to fear.

Keep improving, keep running, and let the W's pile up! It feels nice to have some teams winning again!

    Tekin’s parents support Maciariello

The parents of Siena sophomore guard Zek Te-kin sent a supportive email to Maciariello, who apologized Saturday for making physical contact with Te-kin in a timeout huddle during Friday’s win over Rider.

Zek’s father, Mustafa, confirmed in an X message they sent the email backing Maciariello.

“His parents wrote me a nice email saying they saw nothing wrong with it and coaches in Turkey do it 100 times worse,” Maciariello said. “I said, ‘Yeah, did not mean to put my hands on him.’ So, yeah, I think that’s a friendly reminder just in today’s day and age with everything on social media, especially, just to be really mindful of that. Zek’s my point guard and he said, ‘Coach, it got me to play hard and it worked.’ ”

Absolutely love this response. Wish more people were like this today and we could get past the weak culture we are breeding.

To be fair, Albany has won handily in every game since the UNH loss. Not a single game was close. Our offense seems to have found their groove. We thrive on big plays.  Gonna have to score early and often

The New Hampshire game was played in terrible weather during their homecoming, and we should have tied it at the end. Add the Marshall game which was extremely close, this could be a team with 0 FCS losses and only 1 loss overall.

I still expect a disappointing loss this weekend, but the game will be close, and a win is possible.

  4. Not sure I'm able to make it, but being an upstate guy, growing up going to the Jerry Welsh Potsdam games in the 80s at Maxcy Hall, I have a soft spot for the Bears. If we were ever to lose to a D3 school, this is the only one that wouldn't break my heart. I'd rather a 100-36 spanking of the bears, obviously...

Definitely want to see Neely and how he looks. Hopefully no one gets injured in this schedule filling nonsense.

  5. I don't know much about the business side of college football. How does the revenue from the FCS football playoffs work? In basketball there are tournament shares that get distributed. Did UA making it to the quarters/semis/final man anything for the school? I know the championship game is on ABC.

  6. As for attendance... I don't think the paid attendance was all that great, and many that were there filtered in late. The students came out in force. They filled the student section, and after the game started they filled the opposite end as well, with virtually no baseline seats sold. While the south side was only half full, it was standing room only for people without seats. I was excited with how many students were there.

Hopefully the team keeps improving and we can get more paid community support.

  7. I noticed at the Siena game, MVP arena was not showing the stats/fouls. The big ribbon board along the upper deck showed all 0's where it normally shows team stats. I wonder if there is a technical problem between ESPN and the scoreboards? It definitely makes it hard to follow without the number of fouls each player has at the minimum. Hopefully that gets fixed.

The ribbon on the bottom of the scoreboard had a constant Broadview logo on it, where it used to show the score and clock, while the main screen showed a version of the ESPN feed.

Sure I could look at the ESPN app for the stats, but that is delay by a few minutes.

COMPLAIN COMPLAIN COMPLAIN - us fans have to find stuff to complain about, since the arena is too nice to complain about the stuff we used to lol

Do the stairs have lighting in each of the rows? Or is that just reflective tape or something?

    Those are lights...

Place feels a lot more intimate than the old place, but for some reason doesn't feel as loud.

If this team could shoot free throws they'd be up 20 right now.

Only complaint so far... Scoreboard is full screen. Normally that's fine, but they need to show the stats and fouls.

  9. Unfortunately, I can not attend due to a family commitment that I can not miss, but I was just looking at the available tickets on the site and it appears that there are TONS of seats left.

Gotta say, the school sucks at marketing. I have spoken with several "sports fans" that had no idea that the game was happening or that tickets were available. Where do they advertise? It seems the only spot the department is active is on instagram. I am never on that site, and neither are most of the people that I know. Social media is great, but you can't focus on just one site. I have seen nothing on facebook (the only site I use regularly). I've looked on Twitter/X, and see almost nothing. Do they have a tik tok account? I don't use it anymore, but many do. Why isn't an ad showing up on youtube?

Why do I have to look for an advertisement, and still have trouble finding one? Why isn't it in my face?

Doesn't the business school have a marketing major? Why don't we have marketing interns from there?

Yes, it would be amazing if 5,000+ showed up, but at the moment, I would be surprised if there are 2,500 paying fans in attendance. Maybe the students come out in force? LMAO - that is funny.

  10. We have some great conversation and discourse on this board, sometimes it gets heated. We like to be critical of our teams, coaches, and other fans, but we all are striving for the same thing... Success of our favorite teams and the future success of all of our student athletes, wether it be in higher level sports or just in life in general.

I'm thankful that I can be part of such an amazing group of fans and such a great institution.

Happy Thanksgiving #bigpurplefam! May your day be spent eating too much food, drinking too much cheer, and wearing your purple and gold glasses!

Agree 100%. Thought when he entered the portal, it was a bit pre-mature. I was right for once🤪. Still think he is/will be a stand out. Troubles now are he has faced teams with  at least TWO bigs who seem to be able to wear him down. With NO suitable sub he gets beat up, gets in foul trouble and has to play tentative. I am guessing AmEast time he won't be facing the DOUBLE BIGS he has been doing battle with so far??

I was just talking about this last night. To me he looks like he is in a lot better physical shape this year, and has lost a lot of his bulk. He may be more muscular now, but I bet he is down 30lbs, at least it appears that way. Makes it easier for other bigs to push him around even if he is stronger than he was. It's a small sample size so far, but he also seems to have lost his hands a little. I don't remember him having any issues with passes or turnovers last year, where it has been a problem so far this season. Gonna chalk it up to small sample size and early season sophomore slump. He'll be fine.

  12. Army is bad, but they have some talent and are better than their record. May not be the bottom team in the Patriot. That said, they also aren't good, so it's hard to call this a good win, but a win is a win.

Defense looked better today. Yet to be determined if that's just because Army is bad, or if they turned a corner.

Game shouldn't have been close. Going 10 minutes without a field goal in the first half is what made it a game. That has been a theme of the team for the last few years. 10-12 minute stretch each game with no ability to score or just reset - but winning the rest of the game.

  13. Defensive efficiency was no where near as bad as UMass or SH, was similar to the Columbia game. Opponent was held to under an effective field goal percentage of 45% for the first time this season. Our defense just doesn't force any turnovers and the team playing fast, means more possessions each game, which leads to higher score for both sides.

So yes, the defense was a little better for the game before the foul trouble really set in, and the D fell apart over the last 5 minutes.

On a different note... Marcus Jackson missed 2 free throws during the game, ruining his perfect season, but he still hasn't missed a shot from the floor. 5-5 from the floor on the year, and 5-7 from the line.
