  1. In the end, I live with the font and headshots, the state map logo is interesting... agree that I hope that they did not pay money for outside suggestions. based on Benson's  marketing background he is trying to leave his mark.

So this is only included in the brand guide but the new full body Damien is hilarious

Please tell me that this is not part of the new package....maybe we did not spend money on market research..

Of all of our mascot logos, this is the best one. But IMO, it still stinks. Seriously...who thought this looked AMAZING?

    Ugh.

Did they have any of us season ticket holders give our thoughts as a group? What were the other options?

And can we stop using this stupid front for the words? It HORRID.

I imagine that our beloved AD spent serious money on market research...

  4. Just saw the new logo interesting .... Furthermore a local sports personality is reporting that Damian was spotted leaving the Albany area via Amtrak with his tail between his legs ... His only words "I have been kicked to the curb"

  5. After reading today's Albany Times Union and rereading the America East announcement about the postponing fall sports to "spring"; I realized the potential that you could see the following teams at home on the same weekend:

    *men's and women's soccer

    *football 🏈

    *men's and women's basketball 🏀

    *field hockey

    *volleyball

     *men's and women's lacrosse

Mark Benson has stated a concern about the logistical needs with the postponing of fall sports.

Thoughts, comments....can our facilities accommodate all these teams just practicing during the same period?

I worded it wrong. Not gonna try w football in the Fall I meant. I’m under the assumptions basically there will be zero national tournaments for any of these fall sports and basically conference play is gonna be the biggest thing this year if they do go in the Spring. If so, I would love to see in the spring if they give these sports a shot teams play each team home and away instead of just the one match, and football everyone in CAA plays everyone. For football, round robin and other sports everyone plays everyone leading to tournament for a champion. That is if medically things get better.

You are fine.... People understand.... I think someone needs to remind the UAlbanysports.com webmaster to take down the football 🏈 schedule 📅.

The potential of fall sports being moved to Spring exists:  Could men's and women's soccer , football 🏈 be competing for time with men's and women's lacrosse at Casey Stadium?  Thoughts and opinions.

The America East and the CAA Football 🏈 Conference made the anticipated announcement.  Further, both have suspended the affected sports as they explore a spring schedule 📅.  Casey Stadium could be in high demand.

I for one and do not hate me; it is just my opinion;   I DO NOT think there should be a SPRING football season. The lost spring sports baseball, track, lacrosse, softball, etc and the end of winter sports, including the most profitable part of college athletics (NCAA basketball tournament) were NOT granted an alternate season to play in. Many of you will may argue give football a chance too recoup some of the financial losses, by playing a spring season. Other than power 5 teams; few schools make money on football. Adding Spring football just adds to the financial loses and headaches covid has already burdened colleges with. DON'T HATE, BUT FIRE AWAY!

ps. I also think it is time for the NCAA to step forward with a common response and a consistent mandate for ALL fall sports at the least.

Your opinion is reasonable.  The NCAA, like our federal government, has been largely mia when it comes to common response.  Conferences are the equivalent of states.

We seem to be having the SAME conversation in 4 separate threads {winter sports, spring sports, fall sports & general}, COVID 19 SPORTS 2020-2021. For what its worth I'll post my opinion here, as Lax is my favorite sport now; but perhaps all the covid comments predictions could/should be moved to "General."

Anyhow, as I see it the only logical thing IMHO is for 2020-2021:  Go to Conference only schedules. I know this would cost us "money" games and for BB the Mohegan-Sun exposure; but the less travel might partially compensate for the loss revenues. Anyway the revenue losses for Covid19 are going to be huge, no matter what!  I think the conference only format would be the "safest." and most economical. I would also cancel football for 2020 completely, for the same reasons; too expensive to run in the time of huge financial losses and the most covid medically dangerous. And for those of you who call me a football hater you are wrong---I was @ the first club game @ University Field and a season ticket holder ever since. Just making my opinion on health, safety and cost concerns in these highly unusual times. Disagreements and ALL other opinions welcomed as always!

    {ps I'm still pissed the Spring Lacrosse season was canceled, so its revenge that I say cancel football--------------just kidding.}

Agree, however many subtexts to the same topic.   Without a game opponent,  we see each other as the opponent in many cases.

Glad to have you NJIT.  Makes it less likely we have a D3 team game.   I like it when schools want to be in the conference.  I think we are set for a while.

Based on the ways things are unfolding, a D3 school on the schedule is unlikely.

Interesting article; another view on how things could play out.  However, if a regional format becomes reality, the new  home schedule would make for a less exciting. No Villanova, James Madison and Delaware.

    I have my doubts.

There's been a lot of magical thinking over the past couple of months about this virus. I don't see things going back to "normal" until summer of 2021. I'd be really, really happy to be wrong about it.

...Actually you could be right however the trend seems on my quick analysis:  Can colleges and universities get through the fall academic semester dealing with COVID-19 without dealing with the additional distractions of sports and the COVID-19.  Starting then cancelling an event(s) or a season would be frustrating for everyone, athletes, parents, coaches and fans.

I'd love to watch football in the spring and not freeze my ass off in the winter. I really enjoy the first game or two of each year when I can enjoy football in shorts and a t-shirt. I'm built for watching football in Florida lol...

I see an eight game conference schedule 📅 starting on the first Saturday of March and  concluding late April.  So do not put away your flannel shirts and thermal gear away early.  You may need for those home March games.
