Today, Big Blue re-signed the former Hudson High School star -- and assigned the UAlbany grad back to their practice squad,

*The Giants terminated the practice squad contract of quarterback Andre Woodson and re-signed cornerback Rashad Barksdale to the practice squad. Barksdale was on the practice squad from Sept. 1 until his contract was terminated on Tuesday, when the Giants added tackle Cliff Louis to the practice squad.

“To be honest with you we found – we thought we had plenty of receivers to get our work done this week,” Coughlin said. “We went on the practice field. We didn’t have the numbers that we needed with Burress having his situation. David Tyree has an issue with a hamstring. All of a sudden we really were very thin in our work capacity. So we felt like we needed to do something to enhance our practices. And we had this young man who has been with us all along so we were able to get him back. That is the only reason.”

Coughlin said practice squad wide receivers and defensive backs are interchangeable.

Asked if Woodson will return next week, Coughlin said, “Sure.”
