Season just around the corner with season opener 4 weeks from today... 2-21-09

I heard there's a new element to Marr's training regiment.... hitting the weight room in the mornings.

Have they actually started practices yet?

I don't know, but the lights were on at the lacrosse field area last night on the way into the basketball game

i heard Marr on Sinkoff's show yesterday. Yes they have been practicing for a while. The coach said the team chemistry is much better to start the year. Mainly because last year's recruiting class was so large, it took a while for the freshmen to get integrated. He sounded very upbeat and said the goal now is to win national championships.

Sacred Heart Scrimmage

by best in show on Sun Feb 08, 2009 9:39 am

The team looked pretty strong yesterday. The game was fairly tight throughout due to the play of Sacred Heart's goalies but Albany pulled away in the end to win by 3-4-5 goals. Once they put everything together in the next few weeks, they should be a very good team this year. There were some very nice goals yesterday. Just about every goal was an absolute rip (Rocky B, Caufield, Small, Brock, Pompo, Banks, and others...)

FYI- Caufield started and played most of the day at attack but did venture down and take some faceoffs towards the end of the game. Kyle Crotty looks to be the one to take over the do it all middie role. He didnt leave the field too many times yesterday.

BIS's goal of the day belongs to Rocky B......sick stick fake which had everyone looking the other way followed up by a crank to the top corner. veddy nice.

I have quite a few photos of the lacrosse stadium, but all from field level or from the hill.

Anyone know if the athletic department published any photos since the near completion of JFF or is it now John Fallon Stadium ??

While attending a few Field Hockey games this past fall, I wanted to hop up on the elevating platform they use to video the games, and take a few photos of JFF from a better angle.

Better if somebody with a University ID could take a picture from the Mohawk Tower penthouse.

I know you've taken quite a few of JFF yourself 72. You've got a good idea there.

I hope some high quality photos of the JFF stadium are taken soon, and put up on the Athletic Facilities webpage.

The current photo needs to be replaced. And it would be my vote to replace the current SEFCU photo on the facilities page with this one from the BPG.

I walked past the JFF today, and I think they really messed up on the banners they have hanging from the back of the bleachers facing the bubble. Its a set of blown up pictures starting from one end of the bleachers to the other. The pictures look nice but they screwed up the writing big time. The writing is not centered right, and where the word University is supposed to be written, it's written as Universit as if it was cut off too short. Its pretty ridiculous. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this.

Really? That's pretty poor work. I hope they didn't pay for them. Maybe they are just leaving them up until the replacements get there. That would be something you might want to bring to the attention of Charlie Volker in the marketing department. Seems like its a marketing issue.

And on related LAX note - I see that Dave Nicomini is on the roster and will be doing faceoffs, a la Barnes from a two years ago. Nicomi is bigger than Barnes was though (6'3" 230) and likely to be stronger than most teams faceoff specialists. The dude lays the wood on the football field, so hopefully he'll bring that to the lax field.
