The article about naming the stadium was an all time low for the TU. When the TU should be promoting higher education and helping them raise funds in these tough economic times of higher taxes, higher tuitions, reduced charitable giving by both individuals and businesses; they are making FUN. If anyone has Philips' ear, he should send them a scathing letter DEMANDING an apology.

I say when they want to cover any UAlbany events at the stadium, keep them locked out of the press boxes,

and stick em down on the grassy berm.

I am so mad I can spit. If the TU does not like UA building a stadium, or the timing of it, or whatever, that is their prerogative; but to make FUN of it especially fund raising is intolerable and unprofessional. Someone in authority should really call them out this time.

What a joke. I say lock them out. Their level of journalism has shrunk to an all time low and why? Because they hate our public university and the university community. Unprofessional.....bottom line.

Fire away letters to the editor. They only way the TU will ever wake up is if fans show their support.

 

I think the last few years have shown that ignoring the TU unfortunately somehow leads to the twisted conclusion which is that no one cares about UAlbany athletics.

 

Why not turn it on their heads and inundate them with letters and emails?

The blog post is by Jennifer Gish, who's been writing a weekly column as 'special features editor', things like foosball, girl's rifle competition, 'human interest' sports stories. Also on the T-U's Parenting blog. Doesn't seem like the type to put in a gratuitous Kegs&Eggs snapper.

Pete,

 

Congratulations on being named sports editor. Now you need to address the above article which was totally inappropriate, unprofessional, and uncalled for. To make FUN of a school trying to fund raise in these tough economic times is inexcusable. With state and federal cut backs all over the place, tuitions and costs on the rise; how can your newspaper make FUN of fund raising of any sort. Whether your paper is for or against a new stadium at UA is their prerogative, but to ridicule the effort is unprofessional. The fact that the TU pays and supports a sports/entertainment complex themselves lends hypocrisy to the article.
