Though not technically AE related, NJIT just had a new events center/arena approved for $100M. Could be a precursor to joining the AE once it is built by 2017. http://www.nj.com/essex/index.ssf/2015/02/njit_plans_100m_events_center_may_help_ncaa_confer.html

$100m to hold 3500 fans? Seems steep. Maybe NY/NJ construction prices have something to do with it but still......$100 MILLION???

At 200,000 square feet it's more than twice the size of SEFCU arena (93k)

wonder why it will hold 1k less.

Probably because they are doing it right. Lots of locker room space to hold conference tournaments. Lots of concessions and other space. Probably weight rooms etc that UA has in the old gym.

Stuff like that. Good for them. Building a high end, nice space, that has enough seats for an electric atmosphere without being so big that it feels like Siena at the TUC.

Wow...haha. that's insane...Good for them.

I think that NJIT will need to add at least 2 more women's sports (Lacrosse, Softball, Field Hockey, or even Swimming and Diving) before the current AE will offer them. If the AE loses a member institution then maybe they are offered as is.
