Have things really been that bad under Patsos that a win vs an AmEast team is the biggest win of his tenure? I don't follow their program so I don't know. If that is true then it's pretty sad.

Pete Iorizzo: Siena basketball gets biggest win of Jimmy Patsos' tenure

Yes, they have been way down for a half a decade...

I wouldn't describe their basketball team as down :)

More like where their typical sports team usually is for the last 5 years

Watched the game when I got home from work. We certainly missed Travis and Rich. I'm not sure if it would have made the difference, but it may have, as I think they'd have drawn some fouls from Siena's frontcourt. Pleased that the women did as expected. I think Siena and UA both could have very good years.

I was at a holiday concert yesterday and have not watched the dvr'd game yet; so I will reserve game comments for now. Except I would guess the loss of Travis and Peters may have been a bigger issue/excuse than most are omitting to. Four wide open dunks in the last 6 minutes, screams tired defense. Also, without seeing the game, 20 pts and only four to's in 39 minutes, seems pretty harsh to criticize Hooley.

But I will comment on why I dislike $iena and why I feel we should not even have them on our schedule. My reason is actually a very practical one and is: we help them secure the tu center and help them recruit. In interviews of $iena players over the years almost all have said the tu was a major reason in them coming to $iena. Over the past two weeks alone two different players made the comment that they wanted to come to $iena to play UA @ the tu. Even their coach has stated he uses the tu and UA rivalry as a major recruiting tool. My dislike for them goes back 40+ years and probably was irrational college rah-stuff initially, but it now is more to do with the fact that UA is a far superior school both academically and athletically. I do not feel we gain much by playing a team that is only our equal in the sense they are basically from a one school sport (and have resources allocated such that they can play in an arena (not the school itself) as its best reason to be attending.

Clareth killed us. His shots were wide open too.

What is this I hear about Brown's press conference and his wife making a scene? Anyone have details?

1) Clareth is a jackass. If he tries half of his showboating next year at SEFCU I think it is worth the technical and ejection to clock him.

2) Heard something also. I would like to know the specific details.

I didn't play college basketball (TIC), so my comment has no merit or validity (which, of course, does beg the question as to why it would even need to be disputed), but:

Anyone who doesn't think that Peter's game didn't warrant some extra coaching:

1) Didn't watch the first five minutes of the game when his poor decision-making led to multiple dead possessions.

2) Didn't see him miss consecutive free throws after making three in a row minutes prior...you can claim "law of averages", but I saw the same mental inconsistency I have seen all season to date.

3) Is dismissing the consequences of his mistakes, which as Ilko has noted, often result in easy transition baskets the other way.

Did he play a horrible game? No. Did he play a terrific game? No.

But are there opportunities for improvement? Absolutely.

Well, if you didn't play...you certainly would not understand that I don't think I've ever seen anyone (at any level I played at) "coachs up" a player on #2 during a game. In fact, if anything, you ignore the great FT shooter...and let him shoot out of it...or tell him to relax. Anything else is ridiculous. FT's are an art practiced....not coached up in a game.

We also were pressing for turnovers in the closing minutes. When they broke the press it lead to a couple of those open dunks.

Correct, those dunks came off us scrambling and out of position. I belive he had one dunk up until the last 2 minutes or so...
