Haven't posted in awhile. I believe a few losses can be attributed to less than stellar coaching. However, as was posted at the beginning of the season, winning with freshman as starting guards in not all that easy. Not really knowing the inner workings of how a university goes about replacing coaches, my question is this... Were any of the assistant coaches of Coach Abe interviewed or did they make a decision to follow her to UFC before UA had a chance to reach out to them?

A few statistics that jump off the page for me when I look at the season:

Home Record: 11-1

Away Record: 4-10

1-3 in OT games

Assists per game: 15.15 apg overall. 18.27 in wins and 10.91 in losses. 18.17 at home and 12.57 away.

Turnovers per game: 20.12 topg overall. 19.60 in wins and 20.82 in losses. 19.42 at home and 20.71 away.

A/TO ratio: 0.75 overall. 0.93 in wins and 0.52 in losses. 0.94 at home and 0.61 away.

Isn't it possible that we are being just a tad tough on Coach Mac? Tough to follow the most successful coach in program history. Tough to lose their best player ever and another great player who followed Coach Abe. Coach will be fine.

This 100%. Can we give her more than a year after everything that has happened over the past few years?

By the time you decide to hold the coach accountable she'll be gone. You can't be too hard on a coach if the mistakes are happening on the screen right in front of you. We lost two players to graduation (one a star, and a guard who was a key piece), normal changes; one player decided to leave albeit a very strong player. The incoming group were all Coach Abe’s retooling for another run at a championship, one left and her numbers at her new school are probably comparable to what Trpic would have been doing had she not had the foot injury. Coach Mac is not rebuilding a team where she gets time, this was an established team and a very very good team she took over, Tate is a superstar (I still remember watching her as a freshman and still can't believe how's she's developed), Hixson barely played last year and she’s taken over at crucial times this year, Forster is a stud. This is D1, by the time a few years goes by we’ll be meandering in the middle of the pack or lower and wondering how we got there. When you’re D1 you don’t get the luxury of making in game mistakes, your players notice; you don’t get the luxury of not playing players that should be on the court, your team notices; you don’t get the luxury of a few years, you’ll be replaced …. that’s how continuity breaks down, how you lose recruits, how transfers happen. Vermont tonight, let’s watch for those types of errors, let’s watch 4 on 5 and how far off they play on each of the guards, let’s see the play calling if it’s a close game, what will be the in-game adjustments? I’m critical because I don’t want to be meandering through seasons again and I’m seeing mistakes just spectating, it took a long time to reach the success we have, it was painful before the Abe regime. I still don’t understand how a perennially winning program, with a solid team, picked by Obama to go to round 2 (lol), couldn’t retain a strong, established D1 assistant/associate coach in the first place.

Man good thing you don't follow the men's team. You'd be torn apart with this kind of criticism! Lol

Funny, Coach Brown has been at UAlbany for going on two decades... won as many championships as Abe.... is

still at UAlbany.... didn't need to go elsewhere to be content......

and is having a similar season to our new women's basketball coach.

Sounds like a 'the sky is falling' paranoia creeping in.

And obama doesn't know his head from his ass....

We lost three starters and the one that went with Coach Abe is sitting out this year. The rest of the team was decent but in a learning stage. The first two rounds of the tournament are tough but if we get through them I think are chances against UNH are good because UA fans will out number UNH fans.
