Being in the BHBL district I've followed him. The kid definitely has wheels. That 185 looks optimistic to me unless he's hit the chow and gym real hard since then end of 2017.

I looked at his videos - I agree - BUT speed wins many times!   https://www.ncsasports.org/football-recruiting/new-york/burnt-hills/burnt-hills-ballston-lake-senior-high-school/jacob-stanko1

What are people's thoughts on the recruiting classes. It appears from how they are playing on the field overall the recruiting is significantly trending down. I know from reading these threads every recruit is better than the last but honestly they all look like garbage with the exception of an occasional kid that looks like he belongs.

Kids just vanish or never show up to school. Those that do looks like borderline d1 kids.

The results on the field don't show at all that that this is a caa caliber roster.

They are slow, can't tackle, low iq... Is anyone seeing anything of value from the last 2 or 3 classes now that all of ford's kids are aged out of the system?

Don't agree on many of them.  They still keep going after small sized guys.  Gotta stop that and get bigger DB.  Which they are next year.  LB's that are recruited are still small.  Don't see many big , FAST Linemen coming in either.   THAT is a problem.  Part of it is getting guys to come into a program that is maybe on the brink but maybe isn't and that hasn't gotten to the finish line.  Do kids want to come to UA??

Actually if you watch the kid's videos when they are recruiting they all CAN tackle.  May need to develop a more 'reckless and abandon' type attitude with them or recruit more kids that have that type of mentality.

I personally think Sweeney is too easy on the linemen.  Too easy going.  He needs to get angry at them!

Part of the problem (for me at least) in evaluating recruiting (beside the obvious on the field results) is that I think this blog needs to separate "OFFERS" from serious recruits/commits/near commits. I know, I may make some people mad; but some posters {sorry guys, I love you and appreciate the hours you spend researching and posting about recruits} maybe posting too much information. At first, it was interesting to see how UA was raising the level of student athlete it was pursuing. But by posting every offer we make it, for me at least it has become more and more difficult to follow and evaluate. Maybe DP could set separate topic headings for "OFFERS" vs "COMMITS." The "RECRUITS" topic in football and basketball for me at least, have become too unwieldy.

Maybe I am the only one who feels this way and perhaps I should have posted this somewhere else, because it does not really address the topic at hand: but I thought I'd at least get it out there.

Agree with all of this and, to answer your question, if URI and Maine can do it...we should be able to as well.  One glaring need is the lockerroom facility is awful with no ac.

Recruits see these things.  With our other facilities, school size, and student life quality both academically and socially, we should have zero problems recruiting.

I post the offers ONLY when UAlbany has made an offer [I did post a couple of extras - sorry].  I also post videos of each kid we have actually made an offer to so YOU can look at them.  For the life of me I can not see how that is confusing at all.  If you aren't interested then DON'T look at them.  I also comment if / when they actually commit.  No arm twisting!!  Sorry but I fail to see why this is a problem.  As I said if you are not interested in looking at the kids we are recruiting or are confused then don't look!!!!  What the.... is your problem?

I did not mean to offend in any way. My issue is simple. As you say, I am NOT interested in reading about OFFERS. It seems we make offers like candy,; and like I said, I admire your research and effort to follow and post such an extensive undertaking. I for one am just not interested in reading these: but I AM EXTREMELY INTERESTED IN READING ABOUT COMMITS AND THOSE VERY CLOSE TO COMMITTING. I am in NO way degrading your efforts or those who participate in the recruiting threads. My suggestion is simply perhaps DP can subdivide the recruit TOPIC  into "offers" and "commits";  for those of us who need less information. I threw this out there, not to insult you; but to gage interest in my suggestion of more specifically defining the "recruit" threads in football and in basketball.

Some commits come in early - maybe one or two, most don't come in until LATE summer or even into the fall many times and there are usually only 15 or less, Some don't commit until right before the signing day.  I for one am VERY interested in who we make offers to.  It gives insight into what other schools are offering to the same kids.  A separate thread for commits would be pretty short I think.
