The NCAA would be smart if they put Albany in the Hempstead region. They made that mistake last year and sent them to Delaware.

Bracketology: Cornell Can Solidify Standing with Win Over Syracuse

PROJECTED BRACKET

A few reminders on piecing together the bracket. …

* The committee seeds the top eight teams and then assigns the unseeded teams based on geography in an attempt to limit air travel while trying to maintain bracket integrity.

* Conference matchups are to be avoided in the first round.

* If applicable, quarterfinal host schools are funneled into their own site. Hofstra and Navy are this year’s quarterfinal hosts.

* Of the nine automatic qualifiers, the two with the weakest resumes are assigned to the preliminary round game the Wednesday before the first round. At-large teams are not selected for play-in games.

Still surprised we are a 1 seed but will take it.  But if the season ended today and this is the bracket,  I don't like the quarterfinal match up with probably Denver.  TD and Baptiste a 50-50 draw on FO at best .  Plenty of time for the bracket to change .

I don't understand why people are surprised we didn't drop further and still forecasted to be the #1 seed.  We have some very quality wins, including the defending national champions on the road, still #1 RPI, 4th strength of schedule, 2 quality wins and 10-1.  Losing to UMBC on the road without the best player in the country and one of our best senior offensive threats doesn't change all that.  People were thinking we would drop to 5 in the polls or our seed in the tourney would take a huge hit but I never saw it that way. Yes, it was a BAD loss and hurt our season but it was not the end of the season or the world.

Could the selection committee still screw us in some way since that seems to be the way they do us?  Of course but I'm not sure it will happen if we can win out.  Win the Yale game and all is well and back to #1.
