[MBB] Game #17: 1/12/19 - 3:00PM vs Maine

Recommended Posts

Last Up: L (80-51) vs Vermont
Next Up: vs Maine (2-14, lost to UMBC 61-52...play UVM before they play us)
TV/Streaming: ESPN+
Local Radio: TBD (likely 104.5FM)

Vermont came into our house and absolutely destroyed us. The only bright spot was Lulka. If there is ever a time to play a garbage AE team, it's now. Hopefully they can bounce back against Maine and regain some confidence. The type of loss we had to UVM either makes a season or breaks it. We'll see what these kids are made of on Saturday the 12th.

We aren't good enough to look past anyone but me thinks the level of compatition will drop a little here... They don't have lamb.

Yep. Lamb barely played (18 minutes) and still had 16 on 4-6 (2-4 from 3, 6-6 from ft) and 4 rebounds lol.

Who you gonna play? Brooks? Miller? Lol... Keep him out there he's learning too... Played almost nothing last year.

I agree. Clark does make some bad decisions but several of his bad decisions are because nobody else can do anything with the ball in their hands.

I like to use this line a lot because its sooo true : Will Brown has forgotten more about basketball than I know.

However does anyone remember what we did with sam rowely?? Brown made him have a touch down low every single possession!!!!! I think we should do the exact same thing with Lulka. Start the ball down low. Good things happen when that happens.

This I'd like to see more of this I think he's starting to figure it out on the offensive end so let's run at least a few sets through him

My question: Did Ahmad Clark's effort in the UVM game earn him a spot on the bench vs.  starting the Maine game?

Clark has been by far the best player on the team all season. UVM made their entire defensive scheme around stopping him, and for the most part it worked. Double team Clark. Stop him. Make the rest of the team carry the load, as Clark has been the only guy able to create all season.

It reminds me of the Patsos story when he was coaching at Loyola. They played against Davidson, and his whole game plan was to stop Steph Curry. His team was successful and held curry to 0 points. Loyola still lost by 30, but they were successful in stopping Curry! UA wasn't so luck last night when UVM stopped Clark...

https://www.foxsports.com/nba/story/jimmy-patsos-the-man-whose-plan-kept-stephen-curry-scoreless-050813

So yes, Clark still starts. I just hope the rest of the team uses that loss as motivation, and Brown starts to give more time to deSousa, Lauderdale, and French.

I don't think Clarks effort earned him a spot on the bench. It must be tough having the defense completely focused on stopping you and having very little support from others to shift that focus. I thought he tried hard, but it had to be frustrating. He had 10 rebounds and 4 assists, thats pretty good.

I am in support of get the ball down low, and kick out from there if you have to. Stire wasn't a gifted scorer when he arrived, but as time went on he got better and they threw the ball in to more and more. He also played much more physical than all these big guys.

I think its time for Rizzuto to get more aggressive too. I would love to see him driving to the basket and attacking the rim as well. Getting in the mix and doing more with the ball. No rebounds last night, No assists.
