3-5 at the conference turn

So, we've gone from not making to conference playoffs to being a game out of hosting a game - UML and Hartford both lost and are now 4-4 in conference.

Tough part about the next 8 games is our conference schedule isn't balanced. We only have 3 homes  and 5 on the road.

This team has the makings of one that can make a run if we just minimize turnovers and play smart. That's all we need to do.

There was one moment where Clark drove in, saw the defense collapse and dished it out to Antonio for an easy wide open 3 which Antonio promptly nailed. If we play like THAT, we can hang with anyone and get to the AE title game. That's what we need Clark to do. Stop doing reverses, scoops, etc. Draw the defense in and dish.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves.  I'm still looking towards next year but more likely the two after that where this team can win a title. Keep gaining experience and improving.  A second round loss in the AE tourney would be a HUGE success for this team this season.  AE title game would be extraordinary.

I stand by my statement...BUT, it's unlikely the team will play like THAT (what I said) every game. But if they did, the AE game is not that far fetched. I personally think we win round 1 though, especially if we get home court as the #4 seed. I don't think we'll have a first round exit this year.

It's amazing how fickle fans fan be with just a few wins under the belt. Myself included. The loss to Maine put many of us over the edge. 

This team is young and CAN be very very good. I made a joke in the other thread about a path to getting the top seed, but in reality, this is the same team from 2 weeks ago. We should all expect some clunkers in the coming weeks.

They have started to learn how to hold a lead. The next step will be learning to get ahead of adversity and come back from being behind and win. Once they do that, they WILL be very, very good.

Who are the 2 losses to in your guesstimate? UVM and SBU? UMBC? 

In my mind, this team has proven they can beat SBU and UMBC, just came up short in overtime. 

Maine is the strangest team in the league. If they are on, they could probably beat anyone, or lose to anyone depending on how they are shooting. I think that is the only team in the league other than UVM that we weren't competitive with.

Hartford knocks off UMBC at UMBC tonight. UMBC had won 5 in a row.

UML beat UNH so both Hartford and UML are 5-4 in the AE. Bummer.

It's really best case scenario if everyone above splits their series and lose to each other. Even though this UA team started 0-5, there is a path to the #2 seed if everyone ahead of us go 4-4 or so in the second half. Let UVM go 7-1 and take the top seed. (the one loss being Sat 😀). 10-6 or 9-7 might get that done and 2 home games in the playoffs.

Actually it assumes they do the same. 3-5 in the first half and 3-5 in the second half. I don't agree with UA_MA that this is what the second half will bring, but it is possible.
