Last Up: W (45-3) vs Bryant
Next Up: @ Monmouth (1-1)
Time/Date: 9/14/19 @ 1PM EST
TV/Streaming: ESPN+
Local Radio: TBD

Solid game in the home opener. Took Bryant behind the woodshed and let em have it like we were supposed to.

Defense did its job for the most part in stifling drives but IMO gave up far to many chunk plays at the beginning of Bryant drives. Offense was great in the run game but not so great in the passing game (receivers dropped quite a few easy passes). Definitely things to fix but the team showed it didn't play down to its competition so that was good.

Monmouth is receiving votes (31) in the FCS poll so this would actually be a good win...

Not on the AGS or Coaches’ polls, a few votes to put  them 45th on the “STATS” poll. Massey Ratings favors us by a FG, Sagarin has us even except for their home field.

Stats don't mean a lot this early.  Some schools in the CAA have not played an FBS school.  I think that clearly affect the stats..

Yep. But doesn't matter. I will update each week, just as I do for basketball game by game.

Our numbers look much better this week due to Bryant compared to last week. It'll eventually even out and show us who we really are once we start facing CAA foes, etc. But most of the other CAA teams (like SBU - our biggest rival IMO) are also playing similar teams to start the year (we both played Bryant for example), so even in that sense, it shows us something compared to our conference mates.

Let us put the stats aside. The importance of this game is to play a solid game on offense and defense, including limiting turnovers, reducing the number of penalties, keep up the solid efforts on the ground game and make Monmouth pay with a back breaking pass play. The time to get ready for conference play is now.  Another must win and win big.

So what do we expect today? Monmouth has been solid with their run D so it should be an excellent test to see if our line can open some holes. It’ll be interesting to see how the Mofor/James rotation goes as James clearly showed a burst we haven’t seen in a while.

One of my favorite things from last week was James rushing for 200+ yards and then in the press conference he called Mofor the best running back in the CAA.
