Game #31: UA @ UVM 3/3/20 - 7pm

Last game of the regular season. Team is on a slide going into game 30 at home vs. SBU. A loss there gives this game 0 value. A win might make this important for a home game in the playoffs (unlikely) .

Feel good story: UVM will start star recruit Josh Spiedel who was hurt in a car accident before attending UVM. He was never able to play again, but UVM honored the scholarship. Will Brown and John Becker have agreed to allow Josh to score the games first points. UVM will then allow UA to score to even the game, and Josh will come out.

Hopefully UA will start Fruscio and let him get the first UA basket.

But if they were battling for first would this be a thing. Good job on Becker honoring his scholarship all four years. Dominating the America East with one less a scholarship than everyone else. I’m ok with WB honoring no ones scholarship next season!

I'm pretty sure he got a waiver to have an additional scholarship just like we did last year with Starks career ending injury (with us bringing in Jerotic at the last minute - who redshirted then left)

Have tiebreakers been published anywhere. If Albany wins finish 8-8. Alone in 5th or 3 way tie for 4th with umbc and UNH. Lose finish 7-9. Several ties possible

AE site only says New Hampshire (8-7) will secure the final home game with a win Tuesday. UMBC (7-8) and UAlbany (7-8) remain alive to claim the sport should UNH fall.

If a three-way tie, the teams are all 2-2 against each other, UA and UMBC would have wins over UVM. UMBC and UNH each have wins over Stony Brook and Hartford.

So my guess is if we win and UNH and UMBC lose we’re 4th. But if we lose to UVM and Lowell beats New Hampshire we could end up 7th - UML has a win over Hartford

TU today gives the scenarios, if we lose tonight we’ll play at either Stony Brook or Hartford.

Lulka won’t play tonight. I hope we don’t blow the gimme layup after Speidel’s opening basket.

If UAlbany wins Tuesday, and ...

• New Hampshire and UMBC lose, the Danes will be a No. 4 seed and play host to UMBC

• New Hampshire or UMBC loses, the Danes will be a No. 5 seed and play at New Hampshire or UMBC

• New Hampshire and UMBC win, the Danes will be a No. 6 seed and play at Stony Brook or Hartford

If UAlbany loses Tuesday, and

• UMass Lowell loses, the Danes will be a No. 6 seed and play at Stony Brook or Hartford

• UMass Lowell wins, the Danes will be a No. 7 seed and play at Stony Brook or Hartford

Looks like tonight's game is going into the official record of the US Senate.

Something tells me that it isn't going to be easy to beat an inspired UVM team, but it would be excellent to have that as a footnote...

Fairly certain that Josh's basket will be the top play on tomorrow's Sportscenter. Need to make sure that they finish that story with UA winning the game.

It seems a little insulting both to Josh and Frusc to give the freebie to him. To me, it would undercut what's a meaningful gesture for someone who had their career cut short. Just let one of the starters get the matching basket and get the game on
