  1. I've been dormant here for quite a while, I must say that I'm not thrilled about this at all but I know that WB will land on his feet. This however is the last straw for me with MB. I feel like he never made an effort with middle donors and that we were taken for granted as "loyal fans" but our pockets were not deep enough for him. Sad thing is that many members of the Sec 600 crew are now in the position to be giving at a higher level and we are probably going to balk at it. His public lashing of SM over the TK1 Insta fiasco where he was "compelled to publicly repudiate" SM's st

  2. Great optics this week: -You fire the coach that a large portion of the fan base wanted to keep on the day he and his wife are honored by the American Cancer Society for their fundraising efforts. -You announce a college coaching search that'll cost 50-100K on the same day the university announces it has problems with debt. It's only Tuesday but you're really winning the flippin week UAlbany Athletics.

  3. If you are a player with more than a year of eligibility and you have no idea who the new coach will be, you should put your name in the portal. You can always remove yourself. If the AD has not come in and said everyone’s scholarship will be renewed, do not assume you will have one. The first move of new coaches is to recruit back all the players from the team if they want them. They come in knowing that’s part of the deal.

  4. No need to debate. But am very comfortable in my statement. If Coach Brown wanted to trade in and leverage up he could have at several schools NEVER mentioned on this board. I don’t post behind an alias so I can’t and won’t say more, but my take is that he was too Loyal.

  5. Yep, he would have 1 but because of the one year granted it's 2. Additionally, he's a grad transfer meaning he has his undergrad so he can potentially go for his masters and take 2 years to get it. Dude killed in the classroom clearly so now the world is his oyster. Live your best life, young buck!

  6. I'm not sure whether this thread's primary theme is to support Will's record or to fire Benson. Quite frankly, I am all about the school, its reputation and standing. The deed is done. MB should be talking to donors, the players and the public. Better yet, this national search has to be done expeditiously and a new coach introduced. I hope the new coach will see the wisdom of defining a role for Jon I.

  8. I don’t know if the lack of real season had anything to with it, but I found interesting he was not asked once about his future until this past weekend by whatever media there is.

  9. With everything else going on in the UA athletic department, let's not forget that Coach Mullen and the UA women are still competing in the AE tournament!

  10. Biggest need I want to see filled is a staff that knows how to recruit. Clearly the recruiting has been a mess for years. Defenders of the staff will point to facilities and a lack of resources, which may be part of it, but I don’t buy it is the reason this team has been mediocre at best.

  11. The one I am most worried about leaving is Amica. Kid has a wheels and in the few minutes we saw him play he was as advertised. I listened to an interview with him last year at this time and he stated 2 reasons for coming here: he saw an instant path to PT with Clark leaving being 1, and the other was Brown being here for so long. Injuries derailed #1 and now Brown is gone.

  12. I think we may see some of the players who got a lot of PT bounce because Brown is no longer coach but I think, other than the kid listed in the OP (who I honestly had no idea existed - sorry bud!) some of the kids at the end of the bench may stick around because this may be their chance to get PT at the D1 level due to the new coach likely not having many recruiting options, etc.

  13. I could see Baseball being the first of any team axed. I drove by the field yesterday and it has got to be the worst of all our athletic facilities at the school.

  14. I don't see how you can separate the two considering Will never really had a chance. Come hell or high water, Benson was moving on. Let's not pretend that isn't the case.

  15. Because Coach Brown could have leveraged his success and left several times. He could have easily moved on several times.

  16. Poor analogies. I was very closely affiliated with both situations. And I mean very close.
